Subject: 1965 Chevy Pickup?? IP: Logged
Message: I ran into a guy who is moving out of state and wants to sell a real nice 65 Chevy pickup.
The body and all glass are in great condition - no rust no dents. Interior re-done (not original style). All renovations/installs have been done with excellent workmanship.
It has a 327, 4 speed (Hurst shifter) drive line with headers, duals, tall chrome valve covers, huge 4 barrel and a real loppy cam. The engine features lots of chrome. No ac, no power brakes or steering. All motor under the hood.
He said the previous owner spent 6 grand on the engine alone. He said it produces over 400 HP.
I didn't drive it because it had all sorts of stuff in the bed (which has recently been replaced with the original style wood floor with metal strips). It did start right up and sounded very powerful. Incredible rough idle due to bad a$$ cam.
He wants $5000 for the truck. It sounds like a good deal to me. Does anybody have any idea of its value?

Message: Is it a 4 window or 5 window. Is the back glass really big or kinda small. if its a 5 window with the small back glass its worth more than 1 with 4 window and large rear glass.
The difference is the split in the middle of the front windshield. 5 window has split in middle 4 window has 1 piece windshield.
But the true value is do you think it's worth $5000? If it's in excellent shape and the beds been redone as you say and the motor is fresh as you say it will probly be worth it.

Message: It is a four window (solid front glass).
I talked to the Owner again and he doesn't know what is in the engine. He is going to try and located the previous owner and see if he remembers the engine details.
I would have to consider buying this truck as an "investment" because I don't think it would be a pleasant vehicle to drive in the Houston heat most of the time. I'm spoiled and have to have A/C, power steering and power brakes. It would probably be fun to drive on late Sunday summer afternoons and in the fall/spring. It would have to go to the strip to see what it could turn.
Maybe I can find a "truck appraiser".
