Subject: Synthetic Oil change interval IP: Logged
Message: Hello all. I have read all the post on synthetic oil as well as other literature. I have a 98 dakota 4X4 CC with 318. I recently started using Mobil 1 10W-30 synthetic (at 85,000 miles) with a Fram extend guard filter which they say is good for 6,800 miles between changes.
My question is this: With the above oil and filter is changing every 6,200 miles OK????? Or am I better off using reg oil and changing every 3,000 miles??? The cost is basically the same.
I drive about 450 mile per week hi way and 100 miles per week city (stop and go).
Your input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Darren

Message: First of all fram filters are junk. I saw it somewhere on this board and didn't believe it because I used them for years but after researching it I found fram is crap. As far as the oil I always believed in 3000 mile changes regardless of what kind of oil you use.

Message: I use Mobil 1 0w-30 and Bosch filters and I change mine every 3,000 miles. Why risk it?
