Subject: CAT(not the animal) IP: Logged
Message: I have a 98 5.2 with some mods. Recently I have been getting a rattling sound from underneath my truck. I used rubber hose to locate the noise, it is my cat. I only have 56,000 miles it, is this normal for dodge cat's to colapse so early? I think it has been a progressive thing because my performance has decreased some what.
1. Should I just get a replacement from a normal muffler shop or invest in a performance one?
2.Will Dodge emmisions warranty cover this?
Any help would be appreciated.

Message: Number 2. I think that cats are covered for 7 years? I'm really not sure about that.

Message: I have 97 with a 5.2 and 44,000 miles and I had a CAT rattling too. I just replaced it last week with a Carsound high flow CAT since I was doing the CAT-back at the same time. I am however overseas so it easier for me to do that then worry about the warranty on it. Also, I just liked the idea of the high flow cat. I wish I could tell you if I noticed a difference but since I did the CAT back at the same time I can't.

Message: i have a 97 and had my cat replaced with 83k miles on it...the warranty covers it up to 80k miles so you are still under warranty.
and i got mine from a reg. muffler shop and they put smaller cat's less restrictive..and it made it sound meaner! i spent $160 for the new cat...but ur still under warranty i would just take it back to the dodge dealership and save the money.
