Subject: What's up with my wheel? IP: Logged
Message: Hope everyone had a great 4th of July.
Quick question. Was helping my girlfriend's friend move. She was driving my truck, (scary I know), and I was following in my father's truck. I noticed that the front-passenger wheel is angled. Actually it's very noticeable, visually, but not so much when driving. Basically, if you look at the wheel when they are facing straight, the lower half of the tire is tilted outward, and the upper half of the tire is tilted inward.
Anyone heard of this type of thing? Looks like a serious issue. Any help would be great.
Thanks guys,
YJ

Message: YJ, you didn't say if your truck drifts one way or the other.... with the tire leaning like that, you might want to have the frount end alignment checked. heavy lean like that is a lot of negative camber, and will wear out the inside of the tire prematurely. if it's in specs, which i doubt, then don't worry about it. BUT if it is out as far as you say the camber and toein will chew up the right frount tire. hope this helps

Message: Bill Smith,
Thanks for your response. I've recently noticed that my truck does drift to the right a bit. But still not sure how the wheel could've gotten so angled. What's involved in an alignment? I thought when your alignment is off, the wheel(s) will tend to point in one direction. But in this case, the wheel is tilted at an angle from top to bottom, just as you'd stated with the camber and toe-in. I don't notice much front-end noise. Would a re-alignment really adjust the angle of the wheel and correct the negative camber/toe-in tilt?
Any advice would be great.
Thanks,
YJ
