I make ocassional trips to LA from my home, but on the way to LA there is a mountain at an elevation of 4000 feet. Every time I drive uphill with my V6 Quad Cab, it lacks power so I turn the Overdrive Off and drive uphill at almost 80 mph.

Am I really damaging my truck by driving uphill 80 mph with the Overdrive off?

What rpms are you running at? If your at 1,000 your fine if your at 6,000 that's pushing it.

A little above 3000 but never reaches 3500.

I tried driving uphill with the overdrive on but it's in the same RPM range (3000) and it feels really unstable. More like a fast revving sound from the engine.

With the overdrive off however, it's a slow revving sound, which feels much more stable.

Any ideas? Thanks.
