Amsoil Sponser, Steven....

You state in this message board under this post:
http://www.dodgedakota.net/boards/gen/6432.html

That if we switch our transmission fluid over to Amsoil ATF that Amsoil will cover the cost for repairs if the transmission fails. You also state that they will cover repairs of transmissions while under warranty.

My question to you is this:

What if the transmission IS NOT under warranty?

For example, my 98 Dak has 53K on it. If I change the tranny fluid to Amsoil and 2 months later my tranny dies, will Amsoil cover this because I switched to synthetics? How will Amsoil know that their fluid is even in the tranny. Is Amsoil willing to cover a 1400 dollar tranny because I switched the transmission over to Amsoil ATF?

Just curious. This warranty seems to good to be true.

Mark

98Flame,
(with respect 98Flame, you will know a lot of this post but it is included for the others reading this post that do not)
--------------------------------------------------
Amsoil has approximately 30 years in the Synthetic Oil Industry and I have yet to read anything written from dissatisfied customers, FTC violations and/or fines and penalities.
--------------------------------------------------
*** Use Recommended Products - Keep Purchase Receipts & Service Records - Store Properly ***
--------------------------------------------------
Amsoil Warranty (excerpts from the Amsoil Warranty - for a complete copy contact me via email requesting one and I will send it to you)

Amsoil WILL PAY for any transmission problems if the Manufacturers WARRANTY is refused because the vehicle owner is using the AMSOIL "Universal" Transmission Fluid. Amsoil will then go to the dealership to reclaim their money. (Manufacturers Warranty Service is your FIRST LINE OF DEFENSE and your FIRST SOURCE OF REMEDY as the problem may be mechanical and you will need documentation and receipts).
--------------------------------------------------
Second Line of Defense and Remedy is the Amsoil Warranty (if your manufacturers warranty has expired):

AMSOIL INC. of Superior, Wisconsin, hereby warrants that its lubricants and lubricating fluids are capable of and suitable for meeting the specifications set forth in the AMSOIL Product Selection Guide, product data bulletins and written recommendations. It is the responsibility of the retailer, installer and/or purchaser to determine if these specifications are adequate and proper for the intended application.
--------------------------------------------------
*** Use Recommended Products - Keep Purchase Receipts & Service Records - Store Properly ***
--------------------------------------------------
AMSOIL, INC. of Superior, Wisconsin, further guarantees its lubricants and lubricating fluids against defective materials, design and workmanship. These products will not cause mechanical damage when used according to the company's recommendations in mechanically sound equipment. This warranty is subject to the following limitations:

(Warranty on Amsoil products against defective materials, design and workmanship - as long as they are used in mechanically sound equipment, ---scamsters should not pull a 30 year old Mercedes Transmission from a junkyard, fill it with Amsoil, and then try to claim $12,000)

The warranty herein applies only to lubricants and lubricating fluids, which are manufactured and or packaged by AMSOIL INC. and sold through a registered Dealer, retailer or installer of AMSOIL INC. products. (You need a receipt)
--------------------------------------------------
The liability of AMSOIL INC. shall be limited to:
1) Replacement of the lubricants or lubricating fluid.
2)The cost of labor, materials and mechanical components required to remedy the damage done to the equipment in which the AMSOIL product was used.
--------------------------------------------------
AMSOIL INC. shall not be liable for special or consequential damages such as, but not limited to, damage or loss of other property or equipment, loss of profits or revenue, cost of capital, cost of business interruption, and cost of replacement equipment. The remedies to the purchaser herein are exclusive. The liability of AMSOIL INC. arising out of the manufacture, sale delivery, installation, technical directions or repair of any lubricant or lubricating fluid, whether in contract, tort, warranty or otherwise, shall not exceed the value of the equipment in which said product(s) were used.(If your truck breaks down on the side of the road Amsoil is not responsible if someone steals your 20' Bass Boat you were towing; Amsoil is not responsible for any lost income or wages while your truck is down; you have no claim beyond the value of the equipment in which said product(s) were used --- no $2 million lawsuit because of sentimental value; etc.)

Consumer recourse in this matter requires the submission of a sample of the AMSOIL product used and, at the option of AMSOIL INC., any damaged or related mechanical parts for inspection. All samples and parts must be submitted, freight prepaid, and accompanied by an inspection fee of $15.00. Should the product be defective, freight costs and inspection fees will be refunded. Any damaged components submitted for inspection will not be returned, unless so requested, in writing, by the submitting party. In the event a dispute arises from the determination of AMSOIL INC., it is suggested that the claimant retain a sample of the product in order to submit such a sample to an independent oil testing laboratory. (Recourse: submission of a sample of the AMSOIL product used and, at the option of AMSOIL INC., any damaged or related mechanical parts for inspection, etc. - as the rest is self explainatory)

The warranty may not be extended to cover:
1) AMSOIL products that have become unduly contaminated by improper or irregular servicing or deficiencies within the equipment in which it has been installed. (check dealer recalls, etc., and keep service records use product properly ... and don't use, for example - the 7500 mile oil as a 35k extended drain oil)
2) AMSOIL products which have become unduly contaminated by improper storage and/or handling once they have left AMSOIL INC.'s premises. (If you store your oil in a milk jug with no lid and it attracts and becomes contaminated with dirt and flys - you will have a problem - and Amsoil Warranty is void)
3) AMSOIL products which have been repackaged, regardless of container, by anyone other than AMSOIL INC. (Again, keep receipts and records, and don't buy Amsoil at a flea market unless it is from an Authorized Dealer, and don't use oil from your neighbors MILK JUG)
4) Any allegedly defective AMSOIL product for which a sample in unobtainable. (must have sample and receipts)
5) Any AMSOIL product which is used in applications not found in the AMSOIL Product Selection Guide or without prior written approval.
6) Any AMSOIL product which is used for longer service intervals than recommended by AMSOIL INC.
7) Any AMSOIL product which is used to lubricate any mechanical equipment subject to abuse, negligence, or racing.
8) Any AMSOIL product to which another product not manufactured by AMSOIL INC., has been added. (no "snake oil" or other additives)
--------------------------------------------------
If difficulties occur, we suggest the following:
1)Contact your AMSOIL Representative or Dealer (or ME - even if I'm not your dealer of choice) and try to resolve the matter.
2)If the matter cannot be resolved, you may write AMSOIL, INC.(or you can camp out on their doorsteps)
--------------------------------------------------
Yes, a warranty claim requires work, and it is a bit annoying, - but that is the case with almost all warranties.
