Subject: Swapping Brake Rotors....
IP: Logged

Message:
Hey, all the cars I've ever owned before my
Dakota have had nothing but drum brakes in
them (early 70's Mopar!) so as such, I have
never worked on Disk brakes before....

I want to put a new set of rotors on the front of
my 2000 QC 4.7 4x4, as the original set
seems to be warped (good degree of shake
and vibration from the front end on hard
braking). Truck has 58,000 miles on it now.

How big a deal is it to take the rotors off of a
4wd Dak? I'm hoping they come off as easily
as the drums do on the rear of my Dodge Dart!

And would anyone have any comments on
whether or not to replace the pads when I do
this?

mucho thank-you!

I just got through changing mine to the powerslots i also installed the raybestos quietstop ceramic pads. I changed for the same reason warped rotors!!! very easy to do with 4x4 two little clips and they should come right off [ rotors] as for the pads they have a torx screw take it off and the calipers come right off, remove the spring bracket then gently collapse the caliper with a c clamp and the pads will come right out. FYI; use a tork wrench to retighten the lugs so you don't warp your new rotors before you even use them. somebody on this site had a post with step by step pictures on it you might do a search and see if you can find it. by the way brake dust problem on the fronts is almost non-existant now and they stop great.
