Subject: Nissan Frontier Roof Rack on a Dakota?
IP: Logged

Message:
I want a roof rack for my club cab Dakota. Thule and Yakima are out of the question for now. I just do not like them. I really like the factory roof racks that come on the Nissan Frontiers. Would it be possible to customize one to fit on a Dakota? Basically all that would need to be done is to obtain the mounts of the rack for the cab and cross bars. In order to make it the correct length and width, I am sure a machine shop could cut and bend some metal tubing that is the same diameter of what Nissan uses. Then all that would be needed is a new windguard on the front, which can be easily made from some metal. Any opinions? Would this be worth trying?

There is the option of a MOPAR roof rack from your local dealer. Made for the Quad Cab.

Not sure what trim your truck is, but it might not look too bad to get stainless exaust tubing mandrel bent at a muffler shop, then notched and welded to form the box. Could probobly use the same mounts from the toyota. Can't say I would do it to my truck, but i don't think it would be a bad look, especially with some HIDs attached to the leading bar.
