 Subject: How easy to replace Catalytic Converter

I have a 97 Dakota V-6, How easy is it to replace a cat. converter? Is this something I can do myself? I had it replaced once at the dealer(wants to charge $350), now it's going out again, but I'm over the 80K limit. The one that is going out now has only been on for 20K miles (18 months). I see Speedtweaks has Car-Sound Cats, are these any good???

Very Easy,
Drive over rock ripping off exhaust system.
Replace old system with new system.

Take my advice, pay the muffler shop the $35 to install it!
I bought a carsound cat installed at my local muffler shop for $125. This included the 3" pipe from the headers to the muffler.

Shop around and find a good muffler shop and let them do it.
Most dealers contract out with a local muffler shop and then bill you on one of their invoices and you never know it.

have the dealer read the epa law again, your converter is covered to 100,000 or 8 years as of 1996

Just cut it off replace it with strait pipe and have no more poblems with it.

Mine still had to pass visual inspection so I gutted it.
