 Subject: 180 T-Stat Install Help

I have 00 QC 4x4 3.9 .... My question is I just purchased a Robert Shaw 180 thermostat and was getting ready to install when i ran into a slight dilemma. I removed the top radiator hose with no problem. However there is a bolt that runs across the right side of the thermostat housing making it next to impossible to reach the right bolt. I can reach the left bolt with no problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you will probably have to get a long extension... i did this last weekend and it was a nice 'pain' getting the old gasket off... good luck.

What did you do after you took the old gasket off? Did you need to buy a new one because my new t-stat didn't come with a new one.

You will need to scrape the old gasket off and replace it with a new one. The scraping is easier said then done cuz it so deep in there. Good Luck.
