Message: I have a 2001 ext cab dakota 4x4 and want to trade
it for a new quad cab for easier access to the rear seats. I was looking on dodges main page and
went to build my truck. What I was wondering is the difference in the slt and the slt plus. any info will be apprec. Its only about 1000 bucks more and couldnt find any difference myself.

Message: my advise would be go to your local dodge dealer and see the difference yourself i'm not really sure what the difference is it probally is a few standard options extra...i think right now too dodge is ofering a $2000 rebate on trucks it's either $1500 or 2000 but i think $2000.. i looked at a Dakota quad cab sport not sure what difference between the sport and slt but the one i tested had all the bells and whistles 4.7 4x4 an i think it was around $24,000 or $25,000 (after rebate)

Message: The SLT+ comes with more standard options.
Like:
-Tire & Handling Group (which gives the 16"
wheels, wheel flares & rear sway bar)
-Fog Lights
-Power Convenience Group (power windows/locks)
-Deluxe Convenience Group (cruise & tilt)
-AM/FM Stereo w/ CD player
-Front Floor Mats
Most of these options can also be ordered on the STL... but, of course, at extra cost... so it's actually more economical to get the SLT+ if you want options like these.
I'd highly recommend the Tire & Handling Group at the very least. Those 16" wheels really look a lot better than the 15" and that extra inch really makes the truck sit noticably higher.
I got the SLT+ because by the time I added up the other options I wanted it actually cost less (I did a lot "Build Your Vehicle" at the Dodge website to hash this out. (BTW... I special-ordered mine, so I was able to pick and choose, etc.)
Anyway it's really up to the individual. If the above options aren't that important to you then the SLT is probably the better choice... but once you start adding those onto an SLT, you'll actually end up spending more than if you'd just gotten and SLT+.
(BTW... I don't think the power windows/locks can be had on an SLT.)

Message: I basically did the same as JonnyO. After my Ford Ranger SuperCab, with manual windows, mirrors, and door locks, I had decided to get power everything (plus cruise and tilt for me is essential). That and the Tire and Handling Package made the SLT Plus the best choice. I went online to configure things and eventually special ordered. Truck arrived exactly 10 weeks after ordering, and so far it has been awesome. The tire and handling package on the 4x4 put it pretty high off the ground, so it is a bit unsettling to corner quickly, but it looks cool and the ride is great (plus you can see over almost all the other vehicles out there).
