Subject: Blower motor stopped working IP: Logged
Message: While running my AC this afternoon, my blower motor suddenly stopped working. The compressor is still engaging, and cold air is still coming from the vents when I allow outside air to blow though the evaporator while at highway speeds. I checked all of my fuses, and couldn't find any that were blown. Can anyone give me any hints on what to check next? I looked for a plug on the firewall going to the blower motor to see if it was loose, but I didn't see anything that resembles a blower housing in the engine compartment. How do you get to the blower motor on these trucks? Will I have to tear out the glove box and all of the duct work under the dash to get to it? I hope not! Is there an inline fuse that I am overlooking? Truck is a 1992 model with the V8.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Message: Just a quick note, the same thing happened to me. Check the blower motor resistor on the firewall, the coils rust/burn in two. The quick and dirty is to jumper this block, but it should be replaced. I hope this is it because blower motor removal requires major disasembly of the dash and disruption of your a/c charge.

Message: Yep, that's what it turned out to be! Cost about 8 bucks for a new one. Made my day to not have to pull my dash apart!
Thanks guys!

Message: Does this apply to a 2001? My blower stopped working too. I checked all the fuses and relays and they tested out ok. I even took the blower out and applied 12 volts to it and it worked. I also tested the wire (that supplies the juice) to the blower and it was putting out power. Thanks

Message: The resistor on the newer Daks may be inside the cab under the dash near the glove box. Check around - I have a Gen II Dak

Message: Well, looked around, but can't seem to find this thing. Honestly, I don't know what I'm looking for. Does anyone have picture of this block or a good description of it (color/wires)? 2001 Dak. Thanks.
