My dealership says that I can't get the factory tow package installed on my 2002 CC. They had an after market one installed and jacked up the wiring harness. Have any of you had a post factory, factory tow package ordered and installed on your DAK by the dealership? If this is possible how does the factory 7-Pin recepticle mount? I think they are cutting corners and giving me the runaround!

I have the factory installed hitch receiver on my 2001 CC, sounds like a bunch of bull to me unless they happen to be on backorder. The 2002 Mopar Dakota catalog shows a hitch receiver, part# is not listed but the price is $162.00 and another $50-100 for the plug-in wiring harness.
The factory harness plug is built right into the hitch with a spring loaded cover to keep crap out.

I had a tow package added after delivery. No big deal, all wires plug in with adapters to truck elect harness and hitch is a direct bolt on item.

My dealer here in visailia says it is available from MOPAR its identical to the 2001 hitch installed for about 225. The 7 plug adapter sits off to the drivers side in side a little box with a spring loaded lid as 2THEXTRM said.

I had a 4 pin hitch thrown in on mine at the dealer because the only vehicle they could get (that had everything else I wanted) didn't have the tow package installed, I didn't get the upgraded trans cooler but the higher amp alternator was already installed. Mine has an exposed 4 pin connector but I put on one of those hitch lights and the connection is covered all of the time now.
You might want to check about the extra differences between the actual factory tow (includes the tranny cooler and alternator) and an aftermarket dealer install like mine.
