Hi,
You all seem to swear by these plugs but do you really notice a big difference over the stock spark plugs? Are they really worth the time and hassle it is to change them?

I thought the plugs on my '01 4.7 were one of the easiest spark plug changes I've done. Not having to goof around trying to get a socket between headers or anything. It took me about 20 minutes. So, I'd say it's definitely worth the time. And I've seen positive results.

I know on my 3.9L it really wasn't that much of a hassle to change them. The hardest one was the one in the far back on the passenger side, because the air condintioning condenser was in the way. Even then it was easy enough to get too, I just was a little afraid that I'd break the condenser if I banged it to hard. :0)
Considering how worn my stock plugs were, at 23,000 miles, I suggest replacing them.

I wish, they are just spark plugs and only cost $8. Even if you only got 1 hp out of it, which might be an overestimate, it would still be worth it. Most throttle bodies only provide 5hp, but make other mods work better, and they are $400! So if you add little tweaks such as Redline water wetter or AMSOIL to reduce friction, a 180 T-state to cool the motor, the plugs etc it all adds up to a noticeable gain. So for the price they are worth it. Is it gonna make you chirp 4th gear? Don't count on it.

Every single time a spark plug fires, a layer of the electrodes is vaporized. Since this occures on the atomic level it's not noticable with one firing. But several hundred million firings will increase the gap a lot.
That is why spark plugs must be replaced or at least regapped every 30,000 miles or so, because of wear. That's also why platinum is used on the electrodes...it's extremely hard and doesn't wear as fast as steel electrodes.
Bottom line...you just had old plugs and replacing them with any new plug would have had positive results.
AutoLite 3923's are still the wrong plug for our trucks.

that make's sence what you said but it's a little hard to swallow the fact that i have old plugs since the truck only has 8,000 miles on it so you figure it out and the dealer said those champions are JUNK

I would use GloPlugs, gapped at .100 millionth of a foot! These things flash at an incredible 4,500 degrees Farenheit! You get better "BANG" for the blast with these beauties. Keep in mind, they are sold only by NASA and they have been known to fail upon contact with foam!
