I couldn't find any louder (188 db). also do you think it'll fit with a 4.7L under the hood? Do you guys / gals know of a better / louder one?
It's the 5th one down right above the oooogaaa horn.

Try looking into some of the 12 volt marine horns too. I've seen/heard some that made my ears ring for two days!

I used to work on 18 wheelers, there was one that had a train horn on it!! Now that basterd was loud!! try a site related to tha big rigs most of them require compressed air though. If ya want ta be hurd, thats the direction i would aim for.

Thanks guys, I tried to look for a marine like you posted and all the ones I found were in the 110-120 db area. If you weren't joking about the Rig horn, first I don't think it'll fit under the hood and I also think their 24v.
I just called the site to see what kind of info I could get about the horn. It seemed like a shady place. First I wanted to verify if it was truly a 188 db. I just think that's unheard of not to mention I couldn't find anything anywhere near that as far as db's go. So I asked the guy is it really 188 db and he said oh yea, it's very loud. Then I asked if it'll fit, he said well what kind of car do you have and I told him I have a 2002 dakota he said "oh yea it'll fit" then I told him it had a V8 in it are you sure, LOL he didn't even really know what horn I was talking about. So he goes to the page and says oh now I see what cha mean... I don't know buddy.
Shady site of the day goes to this one. I wouldn't advise shopping here. The site looked kinda cheesy too. Not that a good site is any more promising.
Just thought I'd update whoever was interested

My dad went to the salvage yard and pulled about 4 cadillac horns off and put em on his 56 Ford pickup and damn!!! It rattle the hugeass hood & dim the lights haha.

I do not believe that 188 spec for a second. 100dbs compared to 150dbs is not 1 and a half times as loud, it's logarithmic remember, it's many many times as loud. I just came from math class and I really do not feel like doing anymore math, but maybe later I will. I think it's something like 10 times as loud for every 10db increase. You do not want to be using a 188db horn anyways, it would hurt you and people around you, if it existed. That's about instant damage to the ears, about 120dbs is the threshold of pain, specially at the higher freq.s, ouch!

The clifford concept 40 in my jeep has a 140db siren at a fairly high frequency. It only hurts if you stand right in front of it. I don't think a 188db horn is gonna hurt someone in a car in front of you. But heck, maybe I'm wrong.

xplikt is correct, every increase in 10db represents 10 times the sound intensity. Pain accompanies a 120db sound so 188db would be, hell over a MILLION times as loud.
A jet engine would be a 150db and I think a Top Fuel dragster is a little above that. I think people would get out of your way at that point.

188db Is impossible. If I remeber right the space shuttle at take off on the pad is only about 180-185 and any expose to volume that loud will cause permanent hearing damage. it is just impossible for something so small to make that much noise.

In air, the limits ~194 dB SPL. The reason? We define "music/sound" as a purely AC function. That is, the signal does not change the static pressure of the enclosure, just the dynamic pressure. As such, you can only "drop" in pressure down to an absolute vacuum (which is, ratiometrically speaking -infinity dB, but is in actuality 0 Pascals). You can't have something lower than absolute vacuum. And the static level is standard atmospheric pressure - 1 atm (or about 100,000 Pascals).
Now, since we defined music as purely AC - no offset - then the most pressure we can generate and stay within that definition is twice atmospheric (the baseline pressure). We can't "suck" more than 1 atm, so that means we can't "blow" more than 1 atm, too. And that's where the limit for "music/sound" comes from.
The reason we can reach MUCH higher levels in water (I made some SONAR arrays that could do over 200,000 Pascals, or twice the atmospheric pressure at sea level) is because the static pressure can be higher; in fact, for every 10 meters you submerge, you "gain" another 1 atmosphere. Go down 100 meters, and you have 10 atm of pressure to work with!
It is true that one can easily exceed 1 atm in pressure - bombs, compactors, even pneumatic systems. But - by definition - they are no longer music or sounds - they are simply pressure. They raise the "static" baseline pressure during the even to greater than 1 atm.

Good info, I never knew the maximum SPL For our atmosphere. I meant by size I didn't think anything so small was capable of moving enough air to generate a sound that loud, or if it could it would have to be vibrating at a frequency much beyond that of human hearing, Correct my accoustic theory if I am wrong that was just my understanding. Always willing to learn from someone smarter then I am.

Hrm, then it wouldn't be me you're looking for..
I do know, that sound is kind of like big engines in a way, you want more power, you have more fuel and air. The same goes for speakers, you want higher SPL, move more air. The only way I can think of to move more air is to have a larger cone area and Xmax (which is usually always an erroneous spec. anyhow). I don't know about for other things, like horns and stuff, those are multiplying and stuff like that, the math was always beyond me, I'm hoping I can pick it up later this year.

I just remembered, the doppler effect can create really high SPLs -- hell if I know how much -- but just think of sonic booms. Do we have an acoustical engineer in the room?

I need that horn in the back of that truck... yes yes yes, only if I could point it to the front. That's it, gettin a safari rack thingE on top of the ol QC and fillin it with REALLY big noise makers!!! yess yess yess. I would love to see a teeni tiny little car lite one of those new (based on the old) mini's with no sign of having a horn under the hood or anything that could make so much noise. Then just pull up to people, like the ones that walk right in front of you as you're driving in the parkinglot of wal-mart!!! and just BLOW THOSE F()CKERS AWAY!!! MUAHH HAAA HAA HAAAAA HAA HAAAAAAAA,S~
