Hey Guys,
I am wondering how the 4.7 does with minor towing. I am looking at towing a small enclosed trailer with 2 dirt bikes and a Harley so it wont be to heavy. I will be traveling up and down some big hills though. Should I get the 5.9 or the 4.7 for towing purposes. I have heard that the 4.7 is fast and fun but I dont want to kill gas mileage and strugle up the mountains. I will probably get the 5 speed though if that makes a difference. Thanks for any comment.

chris, I have a '01 4.7 QC 4x4 and I tow a large popup camper quite often. Don't even know it's there! Make sure you get the tow package, and you'll be set.

I have a 2002 4x4 with the 4.7L automatic tranny and I pull my speed boat up and down the mountain with little to no effort. The gas mileage doesn't even drop off that much.

thanks for the responses. I am seriously thinking about the 5 spd 4.7 QC. It is good to hear that it wont be any problem towing. I will probably pick the truck up next summer so I have lots of time to shop. The only problem is I am shoping blind with only the internet and you guys on truck forums to help. I am overseas for a while and will be ordering through military sales. At least they have guaranteed cheapest prices. Thanks again guys. Talk to ya later.

I tow my shadow on a flatbed trailer total weighing around 4000lbs with no problems at all. I've towed heavier cars, vans, etc.. and also have no problems. I absolutely love using the truck for this purpose.
