Subject: Front Hub Bearing IP: Logged
Message: I have 66K miles on my '99 4WD ExtdCab SLT and I find out today that I need a new Right Front Hub Bearing. So I go to the dealer to find out How Much?....$267.52!!just for the part!!! (Mopar #52069361AB) They tell me its a sealed bearing assembly that HAS to be replaced as an entire unit(bearings, spline, hub, & studs).
Does anybody out there know of an alternative source for this Hub Assembly that won't break the bank???????
...OR another way to rebuild it with a set of $30 sealed bearings????
Or am I stuck putting off buying that new trolling motor?

Message: I have seen other people with the same problom. Seems Chrysler tried to corner the market by using an odd sized bearing. This means that it is not commonly made by anyone, not metric or standard. Maybe it would be more trouble than it's worth to have done, but could the hubs be taken off and have a few .001 taken out to fit a standard size. I always wondered about this and i'm sure someone else will chime in.

Message: After market does not need to dublicate the part's interior diemension. All that after market would have to duplicate is out side diemension and sensor locations. Remember that this is a sealed unit that bolts up to the knuckle. They could use any size bearings that would fit the parts total dimension. If the after market does not make this then the demand is not there. Most hubs go south around 60-80 thousand miles. $267 is a good price. GM lists hubs for trucks $300-$500 depending on aplication.
