Subject: another speaker question IP: Logged
Message: I have what looks like a factory speaker harness in both door panles, above the window and door lock harness.I have power mirrors,so its not for those. Could it be for the factory Infinity system
and if so, could I use them to add tweeters? My truck did not come with the infinity. The truck is a 2000. If its not for speakers, what are they?

Message: Best guess is that it is for the tweeters. Having seen the same thing on my Subaru without buying the premium speakers, my confidence is in the 90th percentile.

Message: Thanks, HondaVFR, Do you or anyone else know if I can use them for aftermarket tweeters, by just splicing into the harness? On an unrelated subject, apparently you ride, what year is your VFR? I ride a 1986 CB700sc, or Honda Nighthawk 700s. I'v been told, and now believe, that Honda motercycles are bullet proof, ya just cant break 'em. I dont know were you are from, but I'm planning a ride from Lancaster OH. to anywhere in Kentucky this summer, so I can get some Wildturkey honey blend. Its goooooood stuff, and you cant buy it in OH. I'v got about 12 people lined up to go, and if your close enough, Your more than welcome to ride along. I havent nailed down a date just yet,but if your interested,I'll let you know. Any one else is welcome also.

Message: Ken,
Okay, this is a bit off-list, but I'm writing from night school and there isn't an email client, sooo...
On the tweeters, those wires are simply carrying a voltage. The wires and the voltage they carry don't know whether you have brand X tweeters or brand Y tweeters. The voltage should already be amplified by that time, since the amp (either built-in to the head unit or separate) is upstream. Therefore, yes, splice away! I'm excited because I thought I too was going to have to run new tweeter wires. Glad to hear they're already there.
On the VFR, it is a '98 and I am a dedicated rider, averaging about 10,000 miles per year. I am not that far from you, in Indianapolis. KY has been a new favorite of mine. I rode there two Labor Days ago for two days straight and loved it much. Since then, I've formalized a few routes, but the weather sucked when I went down last year and I didn't test them out. Daniel Boone Nat'l Forest offers some excellent choices. What kind of bikes and rider styles do you expect?
Cheers!
Dan R.
