I just found this forum and before joining I thought I would browse for a couple of days before shelling out way to much money to join a forum which is way over priced for the stupid answers posters get to legitimate questions, i.e. how to remove air bag cover, answer run into wall.
There are a lot of good informtive forums on the net, its a shame that this is not one of them.

I'm sorry if my poor sense of humor left a bad taste in your mouth about people on this forum. Please do not make your decision based on the input of a couple of morons. I was just making a joke and would not want anyone to miss out on the good info that gets kisked around here. Though not a member myself I have turned to this forum numerous times for valuable information and along the way found myself amused at the various humorous and sometimes downright scary acts that people put themselves and there vehicles through. In all honesty if this is about the removal of the Air bag plate I would be carefull regardless of how you approach it. Be sure to disconnect the corresponding fuses. I had one bad experience replacing the front bumper assembly on a late model camaro and the damn thing went off on me. An expensive mistake. Anyhow I hope that my joke on your other post did not upset you or anyone else and I hope you take it for what it was A JOKE.

I have found this to be one of the best if not THE best on the web. There are a whole lot more people here that know their $hit than people who dont. Odds are you have nothing to add yourself.

I tend to agree with the "Visitor"
I am not a member but try to read the forum daily.
There is more B.S. and smart ass remarks then there is good quality info.
Don't get me wrong... there is a heck of a lot of good Dak info in this forum, but you have to dig to find it. I've learned alot from this site but the B.S posts and smart ass remarks just make it hard to use this site to its fullest potential.
Everytime I visit this site there is like 200 if not more new postings. 90% of them are a waste of time. Unfortunately, good posts get burried and lost due to this crap.
The group-buy section is horrible... nothing ever gets rolling. A lot of people just talk. I tried setting up a group buy and when it came time to actually follow through, no one came through.
But, I'm not a paying member so I can't bi%@h too much. If I was a paying member, I'd be pissed.
Just my 2 cents worth... let the bashing and b.s. remarks begin.....
I rest my case...

I've got to go with the Visitor and Black Magic on this one. I'm a new Dak owner, and I've only been visiting this board for about a month. I HAVE gotten some good info and a lot of ideas for things that I might want to do to my truck down the road. And, I certainly appreciate a good joke and a good sense of humor.
But, this board seems to be clogged with kids and/or other people with few manners and no idea of how to act in a polite society. In less than a month, I've already had the opportunity to marvel at a naked man's rectum, as well as to happen across a post which received an outlandish number of replies relating to the ability to include the F word and other delightful literary exhortations in one's posts. Much of the stuff here reminds me of spending an afternoon at Chuck-E-Cheese...the maturity level is about the same, but the language is cleaner.
In this short time, I've already identified those posters who make an effort to be polite...people like Bernd and Lesley...who never curse or speak down to someone. So, "dude"...if Visitor and Black Magic are going to get blasted, I might as well stand with them.

Im not a paying member but I do agree with Nitro Junkie. Seriously guys, if you don't pay for what info you do get off of here then you have no reason to whine, b@tch or complain. You become a paying member than as far as Im concerned you have all the right in the world to complain about the state of the forum, as you are PAYING to support it and would expect to get really good info, seeing as your not, stick a sock in it!

Other forums give you the ability to block out certain members, that would be nice here. There are just to many ways for people to hide their identity that is why we get so many smart asses. Plus people post to many messages, it seems like the same question is asked almost everday, no-one ever does a search anymore. I consider this forum more of a chat room then anything.

No matter what kind of forum you participate in there are always smart ass remarks !!!!! This is not an online repair manual so there is gonna be some crap that does not apply. I think you guys that are non paying memembers should take a minute to appreciate this site. You get a wealth of info for FREE, you get feedback from people like Bernd. Give me a freekin break you guys would be strapped for info if it wasnt for this site. Go to the local autoparts store and see if the dumbass behind the counter can answer the questions that get answered in here.

Visitor please don't judge everyone on this board by a couple example of maybe miss guided humor. Humor after all makes the rest of life more bearable. I think you will find more information here that can help you and listen to the experiences of others with our trucks. This can help in decisions on parts, repair and just trucking around. Remember to strike gold; sometimes you must go below the surface.

Most of us on this forum have nearly become friends. I've caught myself talking with buddies on the weekend about bernd, knobbyman, and many others not realizing I'm using their aliases. There are, as always, a couple of kids on this forum, but it's mostly casual chatting among friends. I am about 100 times better informed about my truck since I've started participating in this forum. Heck, we all give smart-a$$ comments from time to time, including myself, but when there's a question that needs an answer, almost always, an answer is given. Just look at my tranny help post on the General board. I asked a few questions that I really needed answered by tomorrow, I've gotten answers to nearly all of them.
Hang out, chill, kick-back, give some opinions, give some facts, provide some funny sarcasm, toss a joke into the 'off-topic board', get some questions answered, and we sure are happy to see you.

If you don't like the way the board is, then by all means keep pointing out what could be done to make it better. I think for the most part this is somewhat of a democracy so things can be requested and changed. A few should ruin it for the rest. If that were the case, none of us that have a problom with the state of the board would want to be on the internet with the masses of garbage that populate it. I personaly don't worry to much about what a few are doing on the board because usually those posts don't have bearing on me anyway.

Welcome to the world of online forums :)
Even the best forums have alot of joking answers. Many of the joking answers are by people that don't know the answer, but would like to know the answer and keep the thread up. Un-replied to threads die regardless of interest. Often on forums you'll even see posts such as "TTT" "bump" or "^" to keep a thread alive. Besides, no joke posts and this place would read like a dictionary.
As far as airbags go, they're quite literally bombs in your steering wheel. Don't just jam a screw driver in and pry.
I'm actually quite happy with forum, I just wish that I had found it BEFORE ordering my Dak (I would've gone w/ the 3.92 rear end)

I have surfed the net for months and I haven't found a site that can even be compared with this one. I have learned almost everything about our trucks inside and out and it has given me alot of help with the plans for my truck. If you don't like the information, don't read it. If you don't like the pictures, don't look at them. If you don't like the site, don't come and waste our time complaining about it. So you saw a bloody butthole and read some curse words. I'm sure you'll live. If your that sensitive you probably shouldn't even own a Dakota. Maybe you should buy a Geo Metro instead. Or maybe one of those Insights that all the tree-huggers buy. Or you could even have your mom drive you around. It seems that you haven't been weened of her nipple yet so I'm sure that wouldn't be to much of a problem. Probably be more efficiant for you in the long run. Oh dang it...I'm being insensitive...lol

I'm a non-paying participant, but I can say that this has to be one of the best Dakota sites going. I've learned alot of tricks and I've also unloaded some extra parts along the way as well.
Plus I've found several other sites that cater to the extreme performance side of our beloved Dakotas (Speedtweaks and KRC Performance). So that when my stroker starts coming together...I'll be giving these guys a call!!!
I would like to suggest that those who don't like the site and want to complain about the forums and the childish content, need to look else where for their information. Personally, I just overlook the juvenile behavior of some of the other users and click on another topic.
Face it people it's not that difficult to go to another topic, forum, or web-site that doesn't offend.

Well guys Im glad to see that several of you seem to have a sense of humor. I made a joke of the panel removal thing and probably pissed him (visitor) off the other day. I know I am a "non member" but man have I recieved some good input from you guys THANKS A MILLION... I have also laughed my ARSE off at some of the comedic stories that get flung around here like so much mud at a tractor pull. I have a VERY high stress job where from day to day I put my life on the line so that we have the FREEDOM to get on here and bitch so by all means have at it... I enjoy the smartarse posts and they bring a welcomed and theraputic laughter into my evenings.

This s turning out to be more and more of a kids forum. not that there is anything wrong with that, I'ts just that its not for everyone.
I agree that this is more of a chat room with a little info thrown around. And just like all chat rooms there are gonna be disagreements and differences.
That being said, I considered joining, but I'm still gonna wait some more and see if the little boy racers take over this site.

For what it's worth this forum pinpointed in a few minutes what I had been chasing for about a year. It also gave me instructions of how to verify the problem and what I needed to do to repair it. This is public space and therefore it is necessary from time to time to put up with inapproriate posts from pin headed individuals. I think if we can all realize that and learn to see past it, we'll all have a better experience.
