I have a 2000 R/T. Cant I just take my stock TB off and take it to a local performance machine shop and have them port & polish it ???

Next question, after a TB has been ported to you have to replace the butterfly valves inside of it to coinside with the new size ???

Last question what size is recomended for the 5.9 ??? future mods include intake(on the way) M1, headers, potenitally 100 hp nitrous shot, heads.... (no particular order yet) sorry for the long post but I'm trying to educate myself on TB's, Thanks boys..

there are previous posts on porting and polishing the TB yourself w/ a dremmel. if you do a search i'm sure you'll find plenty of info if your interested. i talked a local shop and they wanted a bit too much, in fact; i'd rather get a new TB for that much.

I believe the right size for the TB is 52mm. You can take it to a shop and have it done. Have them open it up and take off the air horns on the top. Also have the locating blocka taken down so they just barly catch the airhat. Someone said it ran about $100 for the work. It's not a hard operation to open it up.
Depending on how big the shop goes you may have to put in new air doors. When I machined mine I didn't go large enough to need new ones, mostly because I was feelng kind of lazy at the time.
Personally I hate dremels. I think of it as a tool for fixing things good enough to work, but not good enough to work the way it could... Just my thoughts though.
