Subject: Carbed 87 Dak wont start IP: Logged
Message: Hi everyone, I have a 87 carbeurated 3.9L V6 with almost 170k on it. About a week and a half ago I came was driving home and left my lights on. Approx 2-3 hours later I noticed that I had left them on and went to turn them off, Even though they didn't run the battery all the way down, it would not start back up. So after sitting for a week and a half I try to jump it. The engine turns over but won't start. A few days later I try again, this time planning on spraying some starter fluid in the carb but now when I try to jump it it is completely dead and doesn't turn over at all.
Is there any easy way to tell what went wrong? Alternator? Starter? And how can I fix it... I don't have the money to just get it towed somewhere and fixed. Thanks very much

Message: Take the battery out and run it over to your local Autozone, Pep boys whatever, most of them test batteries for free. Check that first. Odds are that is what the problem is.

Message: replace the battery, it is a dead issue. if u cant jump start it u have bad cells in battery. just my humble opinion.
