Subject: Should I be flattered or pI$$ED??

Ok, for where I live I have a unique exhaust setup for a dak. I have a 92 CC with cat back duals coming out the back at 45s under the corners of the bumper through 3.5" X 22" chrome tips. When I had it done it was the only one of it's kind in town.(I keep a tab on all daks young and old) and now in the 6 months I've had it on, it's showing up everywhere. One RICER DAK GenIII(Don't even get me started on him!) has the same deal but with the slash tips turn with the long end back(mine's up) and at least two other GenIIs have copied me outright. I'm not sure how to take it. Any thoughts.

I've got sorta the same exhaust setup I think, had mine done about a year ago. I did
not want the split rear like 90% of trucks on the road.

I don't think I noticed any truck with it hardly til after I had mine done, then you really start looking for it.

Well.. ya can't really get pissed... Since what you did is in no ways "proprietary". :D

Either way, just be flattered that you somehow started a trend.

Now if you were to do something "drastic" like extensive body work and a bunch of other cosmetic mods to "stand out" and THEN you saw someone who copied you... THEN I WOULD GET PISSED! :D

Be flattered, I have been running A custom exhaust for about two years.I have duel exhaust with 6" tips that are 2' long that I made. I have had alot of looks. I have seen A few people try and copy what I have done. I think it's neat that I might be A trend setter. ( no big deal )
immitation is A form of flattery.

I couldn't agree more with u, imitating what u have done is definately a form of flattery and i sure would not get upset with it. I in fact would be happy that what i had done was liked so much that it was repeated. just my humble opinion :)

Thanks for everybody's opinions. I wish I had the $$ to keep messing with the exhaust and try some new things. I also wish that these trucks were designed a bit better for those of us who want to mess with the exhaust. The gas tank location makes things a bit hard. I've been wondering what side pipes or stacks would look/sound like on a dak.

i have a 94 dakII v6 5 speed with less than 15,000 mi on it and i bought it new so miles are correct. i found a decent dealer to fix my dak so i am now driving it more and gonna keep it stock as much as possible, will replace muffler with flo thru 2-1/2 and maybe replace my clutch fan but that is it. I want to put my money in making the truck look better but stay as close to stock as possible. I know that sounds boring but im not into speed as much as looks. just my humble opinion.

Are Lake Pipes like horiz. Stacks? I wasn't real sure what exactly I was gonna do. Will side pipes work? I'd think they would be alright as long as you got them outside the framerail before you got next to the tank? But how do you get it over there? I'm thinking something like the old 427 Cobras.

I am looking into getting A set of cable driven exhaust dumps from J.C.Whitney and installing them behind the exhaust manifold and running the pipe out behind the front tires then connecting the pipe to A 5" elbow ( 90deg )then running 5" chrome pipe down the sides of the truck.
