Subject: Houston Race Way (Baytown) this Friday IP: Logged
Message: I'm going out there and I want everyone to come on out and have some fun. So if you want to try your truck out on the 1/4 mile or just visit with one another come on out. There will be several Dakotas out there.

Friday Night Street Racing has an atmosphere all of its own. It's basically grudge racing. First, there are no times announced over the PA system and no times are shown on the scoreboards. This ensures that the racers who have an extra performance advantage aren't letting the cat out of the bag and if a hot rod is running below par or not as well as expected, should save the racer some embarrassment.
A unique feature of the Friday night program is that the racers receive a time slip with just there run on it; not the other lane's. The racer receives only their time slip (computer read out of a vehicle time performance at 60 feet, 330 feet, 1/8 mile, 1000 feet and the 1/4 mile) with their cars elapsed times. This makes the racer the only one knowing the performance of their car.
Another advantage of Friday Night Street Racing is the HRP Staff. They want to work with the racers. If a racer wants to make a bye run (single run down the track), just ask the race master at the cone. If a racer wants to give another racer a predetermined head start to make the race even (ex.-- car in left lane wants to give the car in the right land three tenths of a second head start), tell the race master at the cone and he will relay the message to race control so they can handicap the starting tree. Race control can also give a pro tree (four tenths) of a full tree (five tenths) or
even a instant green with or without handicapping.
Nitrous, Superchargers, Turbos, Street Tires and just about anything that passes tech is part of the Friday Night Street Racing program.
GATES OPEN AT 5 p.m., RACING BEGINS AT 5:30 p.m. and TRACK IS SECURED AT 10:45 p.m.
$8 TO WATCH, $15 TO RACE (includes car and driver)

Message: I am going to get there early, probably just after they open and stay for a few hours. Unless it rains, then maybe go later on in the evening if it stops.

Message: Man, and I am gonna be in Sugar Land. I had planned on going to the raceway next week. I am gonna be there for sure next friday. R/T I would really like to ride in your Dak, to see how the M1 and the flash are. I don't think I have ever ridden in an R/T. Oh well, I will be there another day.

Message: It is raining to the east of Baytown right now, so we shall see. I will check the weather again at 4 to determine if I'm going. Bill email me your cell if your planning to go, I will do the same. That way we can let each other know if things get rained out.

Message: Well actually there is a national meet in Tuscon Arizonia this week for R/Ts, but I don't think there is a national meet for Dakotas in general. You may check with your local track, some have annual Mopar meets.
