Message: First time raced my truck today didn't see the point of racing a 4 cyl. truck before, But I did and it felt awsome easing by that V6 ranger this afternoon.I fashed my hazzards at him after I got by. He gave up at about 115 mph and I was pulling away.I guess my exaust intimidated him into runnin. All I got is a glasspack and it dumps before the rear.sounds pretty good when ya get in it.I never shifted into 5th and was at about 5500 at 115 when he quit from embarasement.I love it.hahahaha..
Mods: homebrew open air intake, accel 8mm wires accel 50k volt coil, glasspack no cat w/ 02s, 5speed, 1998 dak-(the best mod.)

Message: SlowDak: Exactly my point. I've got a lightly modded 95 2.5 and the highest I've had the thing is 105. I've got a friend with a bagged V6 Ranger. That thing can beat my truck in a race with no problem.

Message: That does seems a little farfetched. I had an 1989 2.5 Dak , and my Son could beat me on his bikecycle. I mean , NO GO at all!! I never had it over 75 mph. Could the listed mods make that much diff? Mine WAS all stock , didn't see much use in them on the 2.5 Did I mis out by NOT moding it a little?

Message: Phillip , my 2.5 Dak was an 89 , and it was no Magnum like the new ones. I was only going by MY exerience. I think (I may be wrong) that it only had around 98 hp. I don't know what the newer ones have HP wise , and with the mods you mentioned,I have no reason to doubt you , having never driven a new 2.5 Sorry if I came off the wrong way , and congrats on killing a ford!!

Message: I used to drive up I-5 from Redmond to Bellingham often. It became fairly boring for my old roommate and I so to help pass the time we used to hit around 110 mph for a few miles at a time. This was in an 89 Chevy Cavalier POS with a 2L 4 banger. Granted, it probably had a higher gear ratio, but it certainly didn't come anywhere near 120hp. Of course, that was when we were young, in college, and not too concerned about what would happen if my $25 a piece, tires blew out. Anyway, it seems to me, that it's really not that difficult to get any motor vehicle, short of a honda insight, above 100mph. Might take a bit of time on a level stretch, but never too long. Beauty of momentum. Uphill would be a different story. ; )

Message: I know for a fact that you can get up to about 127mph. I have done it with the speed limiter. All you have to do is hold the ignition down and it turns off. Let go and you can see the speedometer at your actual speed. I dont have many mods but I'm guessing i'm running about 140hp and it was a slight downhill stretch at about 5000ft. I think that I can do a 115 on a level strech at closer to sea level. I know that I can feel the power difference when I go down to Tucson, from Payson AZ... I can easilly squeel the tires in second... NO not on dirt either.

Message: Sure its a reachable speed. like Justy said, get going as fast as it will go (about 80), turn the ignition key on, and drive strait off a cliff. You may be able to hit 130 if the cliff is high enough. If not, there is no way in hell it will reach 130, much less 115.
