Subject: Code 21 = bad o2 sensor? IP: Logged
Message: Hey all,
My truck has periods when it doesnt run well at all- it misses, rattles, backfires, and loses power big time. It only happens sometimes-
Truck is a '97 sport 4 cylinder with 57K miles- 5 speed tranny.
Anyways it started to run bad and I got a check engine light- came up with a code 21.
In fact, I keep getting a code 21 randomly.
Would this be a bad o2 sensor?
Should I replace both before and after cat sensors?
Thanks for any help, truck has a new cap, rotor, plugs, air filter. Thanks again,
-John

lets hope for the best.

Message: My truck is a 97 5.2 4x4. All I did was replace both O2 sensors. I think I will go have them pull the code with the scanner at checker.

Message: Well after putting 250 miles on the truck since I did the o2 sensor I have had no problems or anything- no check engine lights since- seems to have corrected the problem, good luck to you.
