Message: I hate when NASCAR comes to town. It's a NASCAR weekend here so the town normaly swells about 120,000 people. Don't get me wrong, I support just about anyone else's hobby, but not when it keeps me from going out because of the traffic. There are a few cool cars that show up for the event and I even saw a SuperBee R/T. But still, it's best when they leave. Nothing like watching the drunks ridding out of town; one driving and the others in the back of the truck grilling.
Tax payer dollars at work: Live traffic cams at the track.

Message: I know what you mean. I just wanted to go to Pep Boys to get a oil and filter and couldn't even find a parking spot. Then when I finally did, I nearly ran into a BBQ grille that someone had set up in the parking lot. Unfortunately the races seem to bring out the dirtbags along with all of the regular fans. On the plus side, I got to meet Kyle Petty at a event at Dover AFB. Nice guy! Go Kyle!

That was always a great time, drinking, going to the races, drinking, grilling, drinking, taking a cab to the strip bars, drinking.....

What about Robbie Gordon? He was whining about an incident last season for half of THIS season.
Atleast Jeff keeps it to the radio :)

Message: Nobody whines as much as Jeff Gordon!?? How about anybody driving a Ford!, "Wahhh, we didn't work on our setup or motors very much and now everybody else is faster then us! Why don't you just change the rules so we will be faster? It's so much easier then us having to actually work on this stuff." I'm no Gordon fan but I know enough about racing to know most of his gripes are legit. He's twice the racer Harvick could ever dream of being.

Message: Race car driving is sooo exciting to watch ...
Ok that was a joke...You guys really enjoy that crap watching a bunch of rich rednecks drive around in a circle while you sit next drunk poor rednecks yelling at the number 03 car!
Gimme a break I would rather slit my wrists or go to a car show than go to a car race...and that does suck but your city does benefit from an event like that "economic stimulus". Still though I looked at those cameras and there wasnt any traffic...maybe its all gone now...
San diego has GOD AWFUL traffic ....I leave this hole in 2 weeks wooohoooo

Message: In a matter of 5 years jeff gordon will be in history with 8 championships under his belt some thing that dirty dale would have never acomplished. I can't believe people can hate a driver because he wins to much jealousy is not good.Jeff was never as dirty as dale to win a race just a talented young driver who knows how to race a car whats so bad about that. Now i never was a dale fan and i never will be because of the things he did to win i just hope jr. don't race the sameway. so far he's not that's good

Message: The person with the most class in Winston cup for some time now is Kyle Petty by far. Unfortunately this style doesn't win races. He is too much of a gentleman, class of the sport. Mark Martin is one of the most likeable of the Ford drivers, but he is still a Ford driver, and they want too many rule changes even though they are leading the manufactures points by a big margin. Bill Elliot has always been a great driver (except all those years he was... you guessed it... A FORD DRIVER!). Gotta like that Tony Stewart, he is interesting, a great driver, and no corporate spokesmodel. If you liked Dale Earnhart, you gotta like Tony Stewart.

Message: I'm with you Dave R. I live in Pennsylvania within a 45 min drive of at least a dozen clay ovals including the historic Williams Grove Speedway. Nothing like sitting in the 3rd turn bleachers on "beer hill" watching 'em throw sprinters sidewys into the corners at 125 MPH! If you ever get a chance to go to Lincoln Speedway near hanover it's worth the trip. Small track (3/8 mile, I think) with high, wide banks. When the track is right they run wide open all the way around and they flat out FLY! Usually carrying the front tires a foot off the ground half way down the front stretch. Oh man, I feel a race weekend coming on.....

Message: Dave R, where in PA are you? Williams Grove is about the same distance from me, I'm in the Lehigh Valley. I saw my first sprint car race there at Willimas Grove and it blew me away, especially when I stood in the infield and watched them go sideways thru the corner. Also, a buddy and I are planning on going to Lincoln Speedway in August. He's going to be working on a car and I'm going along to watch the race.

Message: Williams Grove is definitely one of the best dirt tracks around.Unfortunately it's about a 2 hour drive from me(central,NJ)...but well worth the drive to see some 410's tearin it up.Not to mention the partying that goes on afterwards out in the parking lot! Although it usually gets a little out of control, lol.
Are you guys near Brickerville? A friend of mine used to run the 250cc mirco-sprint class out there at Lanco Speedway. Now he runs a 358.

In NASCAR everyfan seems to HAVE TO have someone to hate. I was that way for a few years, I hated Dale SR. but I grew up and now i like a lot of guys out there. I like JR a lot! a real class act.
I still think theteams bitch too much. the should have to finish the season with what they bring to Daytona.

Message: Sorry guys, but i can safely say I am glad I don't live in Dover anymore. The only real problom I have with the event is the traffic, but if you like it, more power to you. FOr those of you going down there check out Del Mar on saterday night. It's the "local" dirt track and they usually get a few NASCAR drivers do do some guest driving. Also Aeromarine Laminanents in Seaford has a nascar night where all the drivers and their crews get together and race R/C cars when they are in town. Basicly turns into a big BBQ where those who know about it can meet some of the drivers and watch some miniture NASCAR action.

Message: Well, I don't hate NASCAR, I'm actually a fan. I was stationed at Dover AFB for over 9 years and when I retired 3 years ago, I moved back to Dover. I don't ever go anywhere near the track on race weekend if I can help it. If I can get out of town on Saturday, I do. But come Sunday, I'll be flipping channels on the TV back and forth between the race and football. Now for those of you that do happen to live in the Dover/Newark/MD Eastern Shore area, on this Saturday, the 21st of Sept in Elkton MD at Stewarts Rootbeer between 4-8 PM there is supposed to be an all Mopar Car show. Some of the folks from the Dakota Mailing List (The DML is on the web at www.dakota-truck.net ) have been talking about getting together for a Dakota meet at about the same time and place. Might be a good way for some of the DMLer's and other Dakota/Durango owners in this area to get to know each other. Any and all that would like to attend are invited to come along. I'm planning on going up sometime @ 3PM. E-mail me if you directions. Hope to see you there!
