Subject: Autolite's IP: Logged
Message: Are these Autolite spark plugs that everybody is always ranting about sponsored by Nascar. Do they come in an orange package of 2? Because if they are I just got some at Walmart for $1.88 for 2. I want to know if they are or aren't the ones everybody says are really good before I install them.
Thanks,
Josh

Message: Yes, the Autolite's are an official sponsor of NASCAR. They do come in an orange box. The part number is 3923. If this your part number, you have the right plugs. They are just a standard copper core plug. No expensive platinum, etc.

Message: I don't know if the part number is that. I used their little electronic thing to tell me which ones I needed. I think they were 5224's. Well that's what the package says on the bottom of it. But anyways, thats cool, now I can install them without worrying. This site always has the answers I need.
Thanks,
Josh

Message: Well the 5224 are the same heat range as our stock plugs. Even though they say those are the ones for the Dakotas, it is ok to use 3923's. The 3923's are a heat raange colder than the 5224's and have proven (by almost everyone on this site) to make our engines run better and give as much as 5 extra horses. The 3923's seem to have been the reason to get the autolites.

Message: You wont get "5 extra horses from any plug" unless your plugs are 10 years old.
