Subject: installing clear corner lights? IP: Logged
Message: Does anyone know of a site that shows how to get the corner lights out and the new ones in? Do most kits come with the amber bulbs included or do I need to purchase them separatey? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Message: Read this thread, there are directions. It's really easy, you just need a Torx 10 screwdriver. Mine came with 2 amber bulbs.

Message: Its real simple. Above the Amber strip of lights and between the headlight and the corner clear part, there is a screw deep in there. a #10 torx to get it out. disconect the rubber flap on the side that meets the grill. Then pull. 1/4 turn to the left for all three bulbs and they come out. Replace the same way. You don't need pics.. just look in the manual and at your truck.
THe APC lights I got said the bulbs were included, and then they werent.. bastards. So its prolly best just to buy bulbs.

Message: Here's my website's instructions for installing clear corners with pictures to help:
http://www.dakota-durango.com/corners.html
The APC kits typically only come with 2 amber 3157 bulbs - I don't know why they short-change you but your corners take a total of 6 bulbs (3 each):
4 size 3157 - turn signals
2 size 194 - parking lights
Check your state laws, you may be able to leave the clear bulbs in. I have a link on my website's clear corners page that can direct you to each state's website for a place to start.

Message: They may be compatible sizes. I've used size 194 bulbs in my truck for over a year without incident.
ie: Fog Light bulbs 898, 891, and 894 will all fit for 2001-2002 Dodge Dakotas, but they came from the factory with size 898.
I also noticed my corners installation page was a little out of date and the layout got messed up awhile back so I just freshened it up.

Message: Friggin' DC... errr arrgg. The thing is, if you look in the manual.. well at least for the '02, it says 168 for both sidemarkers and lic. plate lights. So now Im wondering if that was a typo on their part.

Message: They're probably the same size bulbs.
Many bulb #'s are the exact same size and shape, but have slightly different wattage or resistance values. I'll have to look in my manual and see what it says my stock bulbs are, I just know that 194-sized bulbs fit fine in my truck.

Message: Yeah I ran out at lunch and bought a couple of 194s, they fit just fine, and the voltage is the same on the bulbs so screw dc and their 168's. Man I blew a 1/3 of a tank of gas running around to try and find amber 168's to no avail... bastards.
Thanks for the help tho.
