Message: there is a whole bunch on e-bay, so that's why i was wondering. Why would anyone want to buy a key for dakotas if they don't work?

Message: Spare keys are expensive to buy from Dodge. The grey ram's head w/the chip inside costs around $45.00 at the parts counter, then an hour's labor to program it at some dealers. Ever spent $120 on a spare key?
I've heard some limited-edition Camaro keys cost nearly $200 to produce.

Message: FYI - you don't need the dealer to program the chip in your new key for you. If you've got the factory security system the manual has a nice explanation on how to do it yourself. You can program your own key fobs too.

Message: The Viper keys work fine. I have one I use every day. The shank is a tad bit longer than the Dakota key, make sure the Viper key is matched to the end of the shank.
