Subject: PROBLEMS!?!? IP: Logged
Message: OK Im looking into buying a dakota soon. Ill probably end up with a 1997-1998 Extended cab with the 5.2 V8, automatic. I was reading up on these and they sound like they suck!! Sounds like the transmission goes out, the ball joints go out, the brake rotors warp, and they run rough in cold weather. Has anyhting like this happened to anyone or are people just whining? I love the looks of these trucks and in some reviews they sound great. Please help!!

Message: I have a 2000 QC now, and had a 99 CC. I had brake rotor problems with both trucks. With the 2000 I had problems with everything you have mentioned, plus the crank seal has been replaced twice for leaking. Overall I think there good trucks, just these little problems get aggravating. I wouldn't buy anything else. I've heard and seen alot more problems out of the competition (Ford, Chevy, Toyota, etc.).

Message: I had a 5.2L 1997 dakota and the only problems I had was with the tape deck it kept eating tapes other then that nothing really big. Just rmemebr this when something goes wrong with a truck and all makes and models have problems, people will write about it but when someone gets a truck with no problems then no one says a word. get what you like and make sure it has warrenty and you'll be fine.
