Subject: Greaseing Pront Hub?? IP: Logged
Message: Did someone mention that the front hub was greaseable through the abs sensor mounting location? If so does only apply to 4 wheel ABS systems? Has anyone tried taping them to alow greaseing? It has been my experince that these sealed for life hub design tends to wear-out around 40,000-60,000 miles. They run about $500.00 each for the hub at dealer's. I have one truck that after 16 years the front timken bearings and races are still in great shape. My secret is cleaning and repacking the bearing every once a year or every 24,000 miles which ever comes first with moly grease for the last 16 years. It is a real shame these new designs. You could buy Timken bearings for $15.00 and seals for $3.00 all day long.
