 Subject: My 90 Dakota Sport is freak'n, HELP!!

OK No headlights, door locks won't work,no brake lights have turn signals and flashers. Anti-lock and Emergency Brake dash light goes on and off.Tach showing outragious fluctuations at engine idle.Loss of brake pedal. Could this be the computer???? Truck starts and runs but 18 miles over surface streets to get the truck and boat home was a drain. Any and all help ......

Sounds like a short in the electrical system. Possibly near the coil.

More like a bad ground causing feedback. Check the ground wires from body to battery negative and body to engine.Some times the connecters get rust under them and they don't make a good connection. Really plays hell with vehicles with so many plastic parts.Put an internal star washer between the connecters and the body to make a good electrical connection.
