Subject: Reset PCM

Message:
Got a code P0442, volumentric emissions sensor or something like that when I looked it up for a 2002 Crew Cab, I replaced the stock gas cap with a locking one and I think that is why, switched them back but the MIL will not go out and this code is the only one, I don't want to have to take it in to the dealer and waste a whole day just to have them reset it. How do you reset the PCM and does it effect anything else? Overhead computer, trip ODO, etc. Thanks

Disconnect your negative battery cable from the battery. Hop into the truck and switch the ignition to START for about 20 seconds. That will reset the PCM. The only thing that will affect is your PCM, stereo presets and Trip meter. Your odometer won't be touched.
