I was pulled over today for the 15th time in my short 30-year life!!! And I've only recieved 3 tickets! Should I be happy or sad? LOL

Luckily this time it was only for a right turn signal that wasn't working, good thing the officer told me!

Never.

No tickets.
Never been pulled over.

I speed, I accelerate fast, I wear a backwards hat when driving (look like a punk kid). Chirp/burn tyres.

Also, read your state laws VERY carefully, commit it to memory, you will be amazed at some of the things in there. All this information can be found online, but for a good reliable source, use your local public library.

For example, in Montana I can not be pulled over and ticketed for not wearing a seat belt, I must be pulled over for something else, then the seatbelt is added on.

Another example is we have 5 days to change, fix, switchout any equipment violations before we have to pay the ticket…

My favourite, although I might be wrong on this one, is refusing a blood alcohol test. By just driving your vehicle, you have given consent to a breath, blood, and urine test. You can decline testing though, you loose your license on the spot and you are suspended for 90 days. Better than getting a DUI or if you do other things, anything worse. I would like clarification on this, I've asked other people who are proficient with law and they agreed with me, but what do you all think?

The city cops can be really, REALLY weird at times, most are cool, but if you get one of the bastards – like in every profession – you are screwed. One stole my fu*king paintball gun – wasn’t doing anything. Coming back from a game! Never turned it in, or anything like that, just KEPT it. It’s cops like that I want to see in jail… I’ve had a couple other people tell me the same thing happened to them. At least it was only a $200 gun at the time…

Oh, and the Sheriffs and Highway patrol, very cool people!

Come to Montana, where it’s fun to speed!

PS "good thing some cops dont show up to court!", this is a terribly true statement.

I've been pulled over about 50-60 times, probably about 8-9 tickets most for minor infractions, not wearing my glasses, 15 kmph over. When I was young I got stopped alot but I never got tickets. Now I get 'em almost every time I get stopped.

My (30 yr old) perspective? 15 times looks pretty good!

I'm 46 years old and I have been pulled over approximatley 80 some times. without getting a ticket thank the lord! twice for doing 85 plus drag racing motorcycles at the greenlight.
p.s. I'm always very respectful of whatever officer pulls me over-- after all he's just doing his job I'm the one driving like a man possessed
with a need for speed. also I always have my window rolled down, the interior lights on, and my hands on the wheel when they walk up to my truck. It puts their minds at ease and avoids any misunderstandings. ( wich I think puts them in a little better mood.....

Danny, check your local library, they should have it in there somewhere. There's also some organization that was made for the sake of protecting the rights of drivers. I dunno the number though, you'd have to look that up.

ProOnThaSnow, I'm sorry, but that's not cool speeding in school zones. I mean, on the highway or dragged without other people in the way is one thing, but doing it in that sort of area, you should be dragged out of your vehicle and have your legs broken, no joke. Kids are dumb when it comes to cars, you can't expect them to see you, not in the slightest.

dbbaker, is totally right. My dad taught me that a long time ago. The easier you make it for them and the more respectful you are, the more they are going to like you. Forget smart mouthing them or making up stories, just treat them well and call them by sir/mam.

Aww, how cute, the new driver is angry at cops, funny. Hate them all you want, but you will be begging God for one, any one, when you are in a time of need. Hah, reminds me of like a Grimm Brother's tale for some reason...

xplicit, how do you know it was doing school hours. School zones are in place 24/7 sometimes and i'm not as hell not gonna do 25 at 12 midnight trying to make curfew (old curfew).

That said, i've been pulled over once, and got 1 ticket. The ticket was for excessive acceleration and it was in a 92' GMC sonoma POS. That cop was a bastard.

You hate cops because you got caught or because they're doing their jobs? I'll never understand the mentality behind someone who says "I hate cops." Imagine what it'd be like without them. I've done my share of reckless and dumb things, but I've never hated a cop for doing their jobs. No one forces me to speed. I'm accountable for my actions. The police are there to remind us of that. Of course, most teens these days have no concept of accountability. All in time I guess.

Umm, NO, I'm only 18 anyhow.

I admit it, I kinda hated them when I was younger sometimes too. I mean, they were the ones who busted you, could throw you in jail, etc. You look at them like they are the ones who are going to screw up your life at that point.

You learn with time.

im 19 and have been pulled over once, the cop was prolly in a bad mood cuz he got stuck on the shift that allows you to work at 1:30 int he morning, but i decided, hey this 4 lane road with a 45 zone is empty, so i goose it and im doing 63
oops, cop passes me going the other direction, he hadnt even turned on his lights and i was waiting on the side of the road with my lescence out, my intirior lights on and called him Sir or officer, initaly he was in a bad mood when he got to my window but he did reduce the ticket to the cheapest possible, instead of tacking on additional $$$ for speed, oh well, i paid the fine, didnt even bother to show up for court, and i jsut dont speed anymore

and i dont hate them, i wouldnt liek to be hated for doing my job, or choosing it as a career, somone has to keep things orderly, cuz damn kids wont keep it that way themselves

Let's see, between the ages of 16 to 21, I can't remember all of them .....too many though, that's for sure. But since then, absolutely none!! I still run over the speed limit occasionally, but anytime I think about doing something a little crazy, I remember I have a wife and son to look after. Its amazing how your priorities change once you're responsible for someone else.

Just to put everyones mind at ease. I am a police officer and pride myself on doing my job to the best of my abilities. With me there is only 1 way to gurantee yourself a ticket, being rude. I have pulled over countless people and most of them are very polite. I advise them of why they were pulled over and tell them to please be more careful in the future. Those that are not polite usually get to sign on the line. My job is not to write tickets but to protect people from others and themselves. If I can do my job without writing tickets why would I waste my time with paperwork. it gains me nothing but court time and there is nothing more annoying then court at 1:00PM When you work until 8:00 AM. Be respectful of your officers and be honest with them MOST will be respectful and forgiving back to you. I cannot promise you will get away with anything but if you are honest you stand the best chance.
Also Xplikt you are not always better to refuse a BAC test. where I am an officer if you refuse you get a 1 year suspension on the spot. however if you take the test and it is your first DUI you may only get a 90 day suspension or even less. Also if the officer is bluffing and his case is already going to get thrown out of court, (can happen for many reasons time limit, no reson for stop, test not properly administered ETC.) if you refuse you still get suspended for a year but if you take it, it goes to court and gets thrown out. which means no suspension and no points on your liscense.
Sorry for the long post but it gets under my skin when people say anything bad about cops. Most are hard working people who take pride in what they do. Some (very few) are jerks who want to ruin peoples days to make themselves feel better. but it is unfair to judge all on the actions of a small group. I'll get off my soapbox now. I know that I gonna catch hell for this post.

later

At least 35 times. My worst stop was probably the time I was pulled over and cited for suspended license, no insurance, license plates that were supposed to be on a different car and fake license tabs. Cop told me to work on my penmanship. I was a stupid college kid delivering pizzas and trying to save a few bucks. Luckily you can usually go into the DA's office with a stack of tickets and come out with just one.

I can see why some people hate cops. Not all cops are as nice as Da-po-po i have ran into some real A$$holes and im always polite i have my info ready when they get there and my hands on the driverside window so they can see them perfectly or on the steering wheel with my info in one hand(Lic,Regis,Insurance) and for the most part if you dont try to bull$hit them they just tell you to slow down ... but there are the jerks that act like there GOD and just plain power hungry .. they should never have been a cop or be allowed to be one.... those same jerk cops are probably the ones that race by me with no lights on or sirens going. doing at least 80 in a 45 ... why is it that they can speed but i cant? there people just like me they have to follow the same rules as i do... or they flip there lighhts on to go through a red light AFTER they have stopped and waited there for a min(just cause they dont feel like waiting) and the road was clear... But im not allowed to do it... thats just WRONG.. i like cops dont get me wrong and most do there job like they should.Da-po-po you sould like the majority of the cops i have talked too and if ProOnThaSnow had cops just like you im sure he would not have said that
