Subject: V8 Tb same as V6?
IP: Logged

Message:
I was down to my local dealer last week inquiring on the price of a V8 Throttle Body. I know the guy behind the parts counter and he said that there is no difference between them. I asked him if he was sure and he said yes.

From what I have read on these forums he must be wrong.

I guess I just want to make sure. I have a 99 Dakota. Are they the same?

Thanks.

He is wrong. There IS a difference between the two throttle bodies. The bores on the V8 TB are much bigger than they are on a V6 TB. You can bolt the V8 TB on without any problems. Only thing you'll need to do is get a V8 throttle cable.

Yup...he's definitely wrong.

42-46mm on the V6 vs. 48mm on the V8 TB.
