Subject: Distributor wiring IP: Logged
Message: I am attempting to hook up an MSD timing controller (no instructions) in my
96 Dakota, and am down to 3 wires. The small red one that is supposed to go
to the original coil wire and the other two go to the distributor, and there are 3 wires plugged into the distributor that are black white and black, and I'm not sure which does what. Can anyone tell me where to hook these up?
Thanks
Chris

Message: Chris - Go to the MSD web site. They have all kinds of wiring diagram for product installations. I downloaded the instructions for my MSD 6a that I bought used.
I think it MSD.com or MSDginition.com (Search google.com for exact address if these don't work).

Message: Chris,
The Dodge distributors do not control ignition timing and are not a magnetic pickup. I believe this is what you're looking at on the wiring. All you need are the two wires coming from the coil.
