 Subject: side mirror cracked

My driver's side 6x9 mirror has developed a crack through the middle of the glass. How do i remove the glass and how does a new one go in? Should I buy the new glass from the dealer or just call a glass repair company? Thanks for the help!

wow... my 98 rc did the same thing. I think the cheapest way to go would be to buy new glass at the dealer. Me.... i plan on getting sport mirrors

Been looking for info on this. Have '99 Quad bought new in July of '99. Love the truck (3rd Dakota) but both 6X9 (powered) mirrors have straight lined cracked for no apparent reason. Is this a commom problem for these mirrors? Any TSB's or recalls? Never had this happen on a vehicel before. They should last forever.

I think there is, a TSB on this, I read it while I was at work. The only down side is you'll have to wait until Monday.

If I can recall though it said something like take (I think it was a screwdriver) and pry the glass off, then just replace it (I guess it just snaps in.
But don't go of off this. I'll check out the TSB Monday.
