I have the Infinity in my 01 QC 4.7L SLT.

I think the rear speakers are a biaxial, so they call it 2 speakers. It sounds pretty good, I've done enough damamage to my ears in the past, it's loud enough for me, clean too, pretty good bass response and adjustable with the 3 band equalizer.

The brochure says 8 speakers in six locations. I believe that the rear speakers are 2 speakers in one. As far as sound, the Infinity system sounds great. Yes, there is an amp. I believe it is in the right front kick panel. I had my interior out last summer, but I can't remember for sure. I have no desire to change my system. I had it in my '99 CC and now have it in my '00 QC. I have no problem paying the extra money for it. It is cheaper in the long run, if you figure the price for good speakers, amp, head unit (with tape and CD), and installation. Factory installation is usually alot better than aftermarket, too. Hope this helps.

hi danb i actually have the infinity sytem in my 1997 dak they are very high quality speakers to answer your question the rear speakers are coaxials so the other two speakers they count as the tweeters mounted in the center of the back 6 1/2" midbass speakers the front speakers and the back are identical its just the front have a seperate tweeter there is an amp in the right hand kick panel anyways its sounds great but i just wanted more so i bypassed the factory amp and got a new radio and subwoofers and i hooked an amp up to the factory speakers and man does it sound good if i where you i would get the infinity system because if in the future you want to upgrade it is easier with the infinitys

I have have to say that in my opinion the quality of the upgraded Infinity option with 8 speakers is typical of low-end OEM units. I rate the quality to be low. It does not have more than 3-5 watts and if you add an amp, say even 20 watts you are liable to blow the speakers if you crank it. Anything 8 or above on the volume goes from bad to worse. It does not do justice to CDs.
That said, I used to play in a band and later a mobile DJ so maybe I'm too critical. It's about the same quality as a $100 getto blaster ..... definitely LO-FI.

Sorry ..... Audie from Ontario

In my opinion the Infinity sound system is excellent. It,s just as good as any high dollar car I have heard or own.
Granted I hate "rap" but listen to all other music. Excellent sound unless you like to blow out the windows or try to impress other people in a parking lot.

Infinity system is 2 - 1" Tweeters in front of the window channel, 2 - 6.5" Woofers (mid range) and 2 - 6.5" Coaxials in the rear. They are calling the coaxials as being 4 speakers, because each has a woofer, with a tweeter mounted on it.

Generally, the Infinity system is awsome, I had it in my truck. I've been in the Audio buisness, Auto, and Pro Audio for 11 years now, and I am picky about my music. This is a good system for what it is. I wouldnt say its worth the $660 bucks though, esspecially if your going to change everything out. I swapped my stock deck for an Eclipse deck, and replaced the front components with a set of Boston ProS components, and threw a set of Boston 6.5" co's in the rear. AMAZING!

The thing about this systes is strange. It runs at 2 OHMS, where as most usually run at 4 in automobiles.

The Infinisty system also includes a small amp. which is located on the passengers side of the vehical underneath the dash. This helps power the components.

If you like music, clear, and you really want to be able to hear your highs, and mids, go with the Infinity system.

Nope, no problems at all. The 2 ohm system is very stable, you will not have any problems running 4 ohms. Infact, most aftermarket speakers are 4 ohm. I have my Bostons which run 4 ohms, running off the 2ohm amp, and its amazing! No problems at all.

Well I guess I'm picky as hell, because I thought the Infinity system sounded like crap.

I now have a Nakamichi deck, Boston Comps front,Focal comps in the rear, IDQ10's in a Thunderform all powered by a Soundstream amp.

As soon as I get some extra cash I'm going to replace my Boston Pro's(over rated, over priced)with some Rainbow Pro comps.

just my two cents

For over $600 I'd skip the option and put in a REAL system for around $1000 (only $400 more). Take one of those Infinity mids out and compare it to Infinitys or anyone elses $200 seperates - what a joke. I had the same system in my Eclipse GS-T and it was junk. No way your getting any half decent bass (or even mid-bass) out of those stock 6.5"s. I was shocked at how cheap the speakers were. The amp and radio seemed fine, but those speakers were useless. Granted I'm an ex-stereo contest guy so I'm a bit jaded ;)

This "top-end" system is OK for those who don't want to replace any of the components. I've heard the Ford upgrade stereo, though, and it's WAY better.

I ordered this Infinity package anyway, cuz I wanted the steering wheel controls. I've changed out all the speakers with Infinity Kappas, added two Profile amps, a Kenwood EQ, and the Thunderform sub box, so all that remains is the head unit (and those steering wheel buttons!).

Unless you really need the steering wheel controls, I'd not waste the bux.... just go aftermarket... so many choices.

I have to admit that the Infinity Sound system sounds better than most of the stock ford and chebby stuff. I personally like the sound of the whole system. While it isn't better than most of the after market stuff, like Sony, Pioneer and so forth, it is cheaper. I like it.

For what the stock system is, is good, along with the amp. Works well for a replacment of components. as to the Ford "Mach" system. My moms got it in her mustang.. POS.. but.. its a ford!

Dakota657, The amp is a pain in the ass to get out. Your better off just disconnecting it. Though, with an Eclipse Deck, and Boston Pro S components, hooked up to the amp, they still sound nice. Aftermarket components will handle a hell of alot more then this amp will put out. If your adding a sub, you might want to think about just disconnecting the amp, and running a seperate amp to the components.

I did not get the Infinity Sound System in my Dak QC...I would be interested in those speaker enclosures tat are on the door, near the rear view mirrors, are they part of the door panel, or can I get them from a dealer and install them on my panel? I feel for my money, i can get much better souding system. not to maneion I have a set on Infinity Kappas I bought for my car a few years back and never opened. I could use these instead, since I already have them. Thanks for your help.
