Subject: what's missing???
IP: Logged

Message:
I just recently purchased a '93 Dak and in between the headlight switch and the air conditioning vent there is an rectangler hole and what looks like a factory wiring connector.

I am just wondering what went there.

Thanks

If your truck has power mirrors, that area is for the power mirror joystick.

I have manual windows...

Could it be for a overdrive switch??? I have never seen a vehicle with a overdrive transmission not have a switch to turn it off and on.

Sorry, you're right, I totally forgot about the OD button located in that same area as well.

I stare at my truck's dash everyday, but these are items that you never really notice. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you have your vent, then OD switch, power mirror joystick, and headlight switch.

Hey, any of you guys with the older daks, do you ever have the OD turn off for no apperent reason? On my 94' it turns off every once in awhile.

I've never experienced such phenomenon.

I used to drive with OD off, but the drop in fuel economy was somewhat significant.

Yup, It'll turn off if it feels that it needs to, there is a hill that I drive up everyday on the way home, that is about 2 miles up, and its a fair grade. If I leave it in OD the truck will shift from OD to D about 2 times then it will shut it off by its self so it stays in D.

Thanks everybody that helped.

It indeed is the overdrive switch and I NEED ONE. I have looked everywhere for one but can't find one. All of the salvage yards say that they dont keep any of those parts. Anybody know where I can find one??

Thanks
