Who all has had to replace the windshields, and what did you have to pay?? I just got a huge rock chip in mine last night that is beyond repair. Just want to compare some prices that others have paid.

If you have ins. they will pay for everthing , no deductable or anything. If the glass is repairable , they will fix it , if not , it will be replaced for N/C. I`ve had it done before with no problems and no rate increases or anything like that. I`m in FL and think this is something that is in place everywhere inthe US.
If you call your ins. co. they`ll be able to tell you for sure. Also , sometimes it makes a difference if the defect in the glass is in your field of vision while driving , because then it becomes a saftey issue.

I had mine replaced from the same circumstances. My deductable in Texas is 200. and the insurance company wrote a check for another 685. Too expensive if ya ask me.

Already called insurance company. They will fix for free, but will have to pay deductable if it needs replaced. $300 deductable. Also called local glass shop the insurance company was going to use and it was less than the deductable to replace the glass, but insurance company said I woudl have to pay full deductable no matter what it ends up costing.

don't know if this means anything, but after looking around a ton, i replaced the windshield on my old s-10 for 130 bucks installed. No leaks, no problems. Good price i'd say.

My comprehensive deduct on my Ins. is 110.00 This is what i pay if my truck catches fire, theft or a windshield..I am with Farmers Ins.

I paid $250 to have the front glass done on a Grand Am. The first question they asked was: "Any insurance?" I found out that if I still had coverage for the glass the cost would have been $350. Sounds like a scam to me.

Kevster....you sure your deductable isn't 120? I am with Farmers as well and that is what mine is. Seems kind of silly to me to have an odd deductable. Oh well...don't really care...better to pay 120 than 250.

I have one in mine that hit the bottom left (driver position). It WASY down there, which is non fixable. It's branched almost all the way across the car...I said f*ck it, it's not in my vision.

Most windshield replacement companies have two prices - 1 price for the insurance company and 1 for cash deals. Usually if you go in and tell them you will pay cash it is less than your deductible and your insurance rates don't go up. Pretty nice scam the glass replacement companies have eh?

i just did the windshield in my truck.. it cost me 280 cdn installed..
I payed it myself because my deduc is like 500 bucks..lol

I just priced one for my 92, it's gonna be $250 and change. I caught a rock off an RV and it's not in my field of vision but every trip on the interstate makes it grow and inch an hour.

Holy moly,
You guys have some high deductibles. You should call your insurance agent and ask what your deductible would be for a windshield replacement because $300-500 is way to high. Going through your insurance company for a windshield should not raise your rates. Maybe after 10 windshields they might think about it. Also, make sure, if you claim it, that the windshield company eats some of your deductible. Most people around here will eat about 100 bucks if you talk to them before you decide on using their company. The difference between having my fire, theft, vandelism deductible set to $50-100 rather than $300-500 was only a couple of bucks a month. My Jeep windshield is pretty cheap so the replacement company would only eat the $50 on it. My truck has a $100 deductible and since they are looking to make a bunch of money, they'll probably eat that as well. By the way, I have safeco, known for their higher premiums.

we just had some really bad hail hit here in Illinois, and as well as denting my entire it acualy chiped my wind shield (everyone tells me that hail wont do that but it did and the ins. is paying for it). since it was an act of god i dont have to pay my deductable (thank god) but to make a long story short a new windshield is costing $725. and i get my truck repainted so it all worked out

Replaced mine last fall thanks to a basketball sized rock that nearly went through the passenger side front glass.
I would have been dead if it had made it through!
Replaced by Cascade Auto Glass, $331.72 installed Sept 26th with a 1 yr warranty.
8 months, no problems whatsoever, knock on wood!

I have replaced my windshields at the rate of once every year or two for the past 12 years. My State Farm policy has a $100 deductible on glass though.
