Subject: Fuel/Oil sending units??? IP: Logged
Message: Ok, I've got two problems, one is set in stone and the other is questionable. I've got the dak's infamous dancing fuel guage. I've been told this is the fault of the "sending unit" and I was curious how much does this cost and is it a part an amateur like me can change or do I need a pro. And I have been told that my low oil pressure readings lately could also be the fault of a "sending unit". Can this be checked and how much for this to be replace approx. Thanks for any help.

Message: I checked with my local autoshop and the oil pressure sending unit will cost like $50 to get fixed and about $200 for the fuel due to the fact that it's in the tank so they have to drop it I assume.

Message: 92dakotahd,
If you do decide to fix this problem yourself it is not hard at all, just make sure when you drop the tank that it is empty; A fuel tank with only five gallons is very heavy when you are under the vehicle.

Message: I have the oil sending unit fixed. Only cost me like $50 total with labor. The fuel is not fixed yet though. Maybe this winter.
