O.k , in about 2 years , we are giveing our 1992 Shadow to our son.I had my heart set on the Sub WRX , but to be fair , we drove some others today.

First was the Mazda MP5. Kinda cool , rode and handled VERY nice. The wife liked the look. Me? I don't know , it could grow on me.

Next was the Toyota Matrix....YUC!!!! Ugly , no guts , and handled like a brick! Did not like it at all. Neather did she.

Last was the Honda Civic SI. What a ROCKET!!! That thing flat out gets up and MOVES!!! Looks strang , but to drive it is to love it. 160 hp , in a VERY small car.

Will drive the Sub WRX tomarrow....I hope it handles 1/2 as good as the honda , 'cause I love the looks of it.

To bad Dodge Neon (at least now) doesn't have thaat kinda of HP. But I have heard of a 200 hp one comming out soon......

I do like the looks of that, blue wrx, the one on the comercial. I guess they run mid 14's from the factory and with a little turbo tweeking you can really get that thing moving. but at the same time I'm sure the'll have kits for the s/c neon.
I think it's a 2003 model, but don't quote me on that.

If your looking for mod freindly go with the honda. The parts fall off the trees. My girl has the nissan senta. Stock vs stock it will pass a rc 01 auto 3.55 3.9l in the quarter and it is not the se-r v spec. Another is the Acura RSX 200 hp.

You can not go wrong with the soobie! The manuals are rated at like 14.1 stock, brand new, this was C&D who tested it. With a few home modifications and and uppie (up-pipe) you can bring max boost down to mid 2000s easy. Those are just simple mods. Lets not forget they have AWD...I wish I had AWD.

The new 350z has about 280hp or so, i've seen quite a bit of info on it. Actually I have a set of "Z" playing cards that nissan sent out a few months ago. I just signed up for some info on their website and they sent the pack of cards. They are pretty nice the cards have info about the new car and some fact about the old school ones too.

Also you might want to look around for the new mitsubishi Lancer EVO VII it is turboed all wheel drive version of the lancer and has like 276hp and will run the quarter in 13.1 (estimated) the only problem is they are not out in the US yet, but they should be at some point in the next year

If you liked the Civic Si, you are going to love the WRX. you can throw that thing all over the place and not get yourself into trouble with it.

I agree with Jonathan and Wiley. If you have some more cash to spend go for the Z. Great Looking car with a great history behind it.

The Subaru WRX is one sweet ride. I wasn't wowed by the body roll aspect of its handling but it stuck well and while under power in a tight turn, you could really feel the AWD do its magic. Just don't back off the throttle mid-corner, you will be seeing sideways. The boost is smooth and very linear. On a test drive with 2 passengers I rolled up on a new Stang GT and dropped it in 2nd and toasted him as he tried to romp on his V8. That little beauty can move. 5.5secs 0-60, massive clutch drop involved tho. They are 14 psi at stock trim, so chipping them is not gonna get you much, but as far as aftermarket turbos and parts, you can have as much fun as your wallet will allow. Don't get the 17's from the dealer, they are a rip off, and try and find one with a spoiler, most dealers have had the add on spoilers recalled and it looks goofy with out it. My buddy has a silver one in Phoenix and with the roads out there he loves it. Highly recommended by a car nut.

Before I bought my QC, I was thinking of keeping my Ranger & getting a car. With that in mind, I spent a lot of time car shopping. One of the cars that impressed me the most was the Acura CL Type S. At ~260HP this thing will flat-out MOVE!!

Obviously, I ended up getting my QC, but ever since then, I've been thinking of picking one up as a secondary vehicle.

I agree with Halo3. I test drove a pearl-white acura cl type S. Loaded, with leather, Bose, and Navigation, it was around 28 grand. Had the manual and automatic shifting on the stick. But I went with the QC. ; ) The acura is a nice car. The wrx and neons are fast vehicles but they look like toys I could pick up and wind. I guess to all his own! ; )

O.K Drove some others tody,
First was the Sub Impereza (0nly one WRX on the lot , and that was sold) Nice car. still NOT the WRX.

Next was the Sentra Type RS. Nice , 6speed , but after driving the Sub , not much diff between the two.

Next , and BY FAR the best , believe it or not was the VW Jetta GLS 1.8T (turbo). Made EVERYTHING else look and feel like a TOY!!!! This car was the best I have driven in a LONG time in any price range!! Pulls hard in about any gear , vety fast , and quick of the line. May not be as fast as the WRX is, but for 4 to 5 grand less , I think its mine!!! The Sub Impreaza was around 17,000 , the WRX goes around 26,000 , but the Jetta was going for 21,000 with most of the goddies , and one heck of a warranty!! , Lots better than Subaru. The search may be over...but I have a couple of years to go!!

I was about to be original and mention the Audi A4, but then someone else did. Good call. That car is quick for what it is. The A4 quattro with the turbo 2.0 and the tiptronic trans is sweet!!! I work with 2 guys that have them. Of course, I can get it for $350/month for a 1yr/unlim mileage lease. BTW, I work for a company owned by Audi, so don't kill me about the price. I think YJ was right though, they can run you anywhere from 24K way up past 27K. Nice cars though.

VW's 1.8T was at 150hp for 2001. For 2002 it got bumped to 180 in the Jetta and Beetle, 170 in the Passat. Great engine, but not in the same league as the WRX.

VW's are sweet cars...very smooth, refined, and the interiors are the nicest on the market for under $30K. Only problem with VW is that the stock springs, shocks, and roll bars are WAY too soft, no matter what model. That's an easy fix.

Say it with Krylon!

The salesman gave me a web site to check out after I showed him my truck , and the homemade intake I made. Its www.vwvortex.com and has some cool looking things on there. Not as good as this one , and I couldn't get to the forums, but they had a nice looking red Jetta.

I had forgot to mention that I had the truck detailed at a detail shop. All winter I had just taken it through a brushless carwash,so it was in dire need. They usued a professional buffer , did all the trim and tires , even did the exhaust tip, cleaned and shampooed the carpet, and cleaned the engin bay. All for $160. Lookes great , and gives me a fresh plate to start on when I start washing and polishing her up the Spring!!

At every dealer I went to , you could just SEE those guys salivating over the Dak , hoping I was trading it in!!! When I told the Homda guy I wasn't , he looked like he just dropped his icecream cone!!hehe.
