some good points. i believe in corners as well. that is why the mustang has been in retirement getting built to run on LIMEROCK PARK. now as for the truck ive slid it into corners sideways and the auto held up. so could luck

This thread is yet another that proves that we are all capable of discussing/arguing about anything!

For me the manual trans was a big drawing factor in the purchase of a 4.7 5-speed. I really enjoy "rowing" thru the gears at every opportunity. Stop and go traffic doesn't bother me a bit. The difference in driveline hp loss between the auto and the manual is what makes the 4.7 5-speed a good performance match for the R/T. While it's true that the NV3500 isn't ideally suited for perfomance fun, it still works just fine. That low granny-gear 1st is what helps make good 60' times at the track and works quite well when you need to pull a heavy trailer from a stop or a boat up a ramp. I do feel that my truck would be quicker now with the turbo, if it was an automatic. I would be able to load the convertor and build boost before launching. I would also not vent any boost during shifts. If my truck were a race-only vehicle... it would already have an automatic in it. But - Since I enjoy driving it on the street, I am willing to accept this compromise.... because I love to shift!

Everybody has their preferences.... but mine are the only right ones! Hahahahaha

(and in case any of you missed it.... that last sentence is called sarcasm!)

Same as Ottawadak, I'm a professional driver with a CDL Class A.
Same deal, I shift gears all day long when it's time to go home I'm thru shifting.
Got an automatic tranny in my Dak, no regrets.
