Subject: DEALER FUBARED MY PAINT JOB! WHAT NEXT? IP: Logged
Message: Well as I posted on this board earlier my brand new Dodge Dakotas back window leaks. It only has 500 miles on it so I took it into the dealer to have the window fixed under warranty. I brought the truck in and they jerked the window out then told me they would have to order a new window. Ok no big deal, well I get home and notice that the mooks must have used some sort of pry bar or something to get the window out and pried against the truck. All the way around the edge of my back window the paint has been chipped off in about 3-4" lines. They even cracked my third brake light. The worst part is they didnt even tell me they just tried to cover it up with touch-up paint. I am calling tomorrow to see what they say about the window and the paint. I suspect this is going to be a fight, if so I have no problem taking legal actions. Has anyone had a dealer do something like this? If so did they make things right and fix it or did they give you hassle? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Message: At my local dealer they have been known to play race the garage door. My freind has a few nice scratches in the roof of his intrepid. I guess the door won that one. For ths reason I set my rev limiter really low if it has to go in to them so that if they do start fooling around they will cause serios damage to something. I figure if they call me and tell me something else is worng with the trucks computer i'll have them. That's just my remidy to one of their games. I would imagine that they are going to kick and screem all the way to court.

Message: Get out the camera & get photos before you let them muck it up anymore. Not only can you submit copies to Dodge's "Powers-that-be", but, worst case scenario, you can use them in court as well.
Go into the dealer fast & hard. Don't back down one ounce. It's kinda like taking on the alpha-male of a wolf pack. Show any sign of hesitation or weakness, and they'll refuse to acknowledge anything or help in any way.

Message: Went to the dealer today and had a heated discussion with the service manager. Bottom line is they are going to make it right they claim. Rental car and everything......if they come through i will be very impressed.

Message: trust me guys not all dealer techs are a$$ holes. and ranting and raving doesn't help all the time! all that does is let the dealer know how big a jerk you can be. Most of the time an honest normal discusion can resolve most problems. But i have to admit ive worked for some real idiots in the past myself.if they won't help, call Chrysler.those boys don't mess around, they don't like getting fussy phone calls, and the dealer WILL hear about it if they do.if your shop has a rep of playing ricky race car with customer cars then maybe try bringing it up with the owner might help. Just make sure you got proof.makes your claim a lot more substantial with proof. the dealer i worked for has fired more than one porter and techs for doing the parking lot 500. hope this helps.

Message: Yeah I tend to agree. I don't really ever 'light into' anyone big time. What I DO, is basically just act civil, but talk to them in such a way that it's obvious that I'm not an idiot and can see right through bullsh!t, and that if they don't do what they should be doing, they're going to have a tough time.
Current mods: A MUFFLER. That's it. (For now.) Future mods: Tonneau cover Underdrive pulleys Removal of clutch fan K&N FIPK 17" rims And much, much more.....
