Subject: Tailgate Lock IP: Logged
Message: Installed a "Bully" tailgate lock on my 2002 Dakota yesterday. The lock mechanism had an excessive amount of play and wouldn't work properly. I notified the manufacturer of the problem and their suggested fixes didn't work. Also called the supplier (www.affsave.com) and they have a no refund policy. That wasn't stated any place on the internet. Anyhow, for an additional charge they could send me a pop lock. Guess I'll give that one a try.

Message: Yep the bully is a Piece of Sh*t
they should really take it off the market and make one that works all the time.

Message: I'm spending the extra $$ and buying one of the Pace-Edwards PowerGate locks. It installs inside of the tailgate and automatically locks/unlocks along with my door locks via remote.

Message: Just installed a PopnLock yesterday, took less than 10 minutes and works great, but do have one question, when turning the key I feel a slight resistance when the lock cylinder turn, is this normal ?
Thanks

Message: Called the supplier again (affsave.com) and talked to the owner. He has been more than helpful with replacing the lock. Should have it next week.
Gentleman, I'll let you know how it works then.

Message: john, think you will be happy with the popnlock, one thing I was skeptical about is that it comes with 2 replacement bolts for the center hole both are 1/4 20 x 1 1/4 long, one has a standard hex head and the other has a one way head, I understand the reasoning behind the one way head, just unsure if it ever needs to be removed for tailgate latch repairs, the instructions do not mention the bolt, guess they just leave it up to the owner to use whatever, the original center bolt which has a torx head is too short to reuse.

Message: Sorry to hear the Bully lock didn`t work for you guys. I`ve had one on my 02 QC for a couple of months now and am happy with it.It did take a little work to get it adjusted correctly though.
One thing I`m not so sure about is its strength..seems like a few good pulls and something would break and allow the gate to open.
I have a soft top mount tonneau , so I`m not so worried about access to the inside of the bed as much as I am the gate opening and allowing my bed extender to go BY BY .The Pop Lock seems much more secure.
My truck is in my garage and parked where I can see it 95% of the time , so with the factory looks of the Bully , I`m hoping I`ll be O.K.
