I have a 2002 3.9L Dakota, and wanted to put in an electric fan, which is the best fan to put in, and what model do I use, I was searching and do I use the Universal fit?

There is a very good chance you already have one!!! Take a look behind the radiator my 2000 3.9 has one. I used a permacool fan controller to make it come on earlier then the PCM tells it to but allowed the PCM to control it as well as a back up

The non-electric fan (clutch fan) is attached to the engine and powered by the serpentine belt. The electric fan is not attached to the engine and flat right up against the back of the radiator

hey geoff, u said that you already had an electric fan, yet in your mods you say that you removed your clutch fan? just wondering, cause I want more MPG and I heard an electric fan would help, but if I already have one from the stock setup, then no need.

That is correct if you have the electric fan just remove the clutch fan and you are all set. Less parasitic drag = more HP and a little better gas mileage

Yes you Should have two fans the electric is meant to be an auxiliary but most agree it can cool enough. The PCM will turn it on at a certain temperature to assist the clutch fan, it also goes on if you turn the A/C on

and if you do have the electric fan which you should, you can use the money you were going to spend on another fan and get an ASP underdrive crank pulley. the combo of removing the clutch fan and adding the underdrive pulley will make a noticable difference

try www.truckperformance.com not very expensive 10 minutes to install. Its a smaller crank pulley that slows down the whole belt system slightly less drag more HP and it will rev a little quicker IMHO
