I hate to be a kill-joy, but you get what you pay for. Most winches that could possibly be found for under $500 are either crap or don't have the pull-rating to support your Dak (remember, you want a winch that can pull ATLEAST 1.5x your weight).
If price is really a factor, just buy a good-sized come-along. Hell, you can pick up a good 5-ton come-along for around $60. Couple that with a Hi-Lift jack, and you have a recovery solution that may be a little more labor instensive, but is WAYYYYY cheaper than those of us that have winches!
BTW, don't forget to pick up some other recovery accessories, like: a tree protector, a couple of tow straps (nice to have a couple sizes to choose from for short vs. long pulls), hook-up points on both the front & rear of your Dak, etc.
