Subject: Leaving for 2 weeks, ok to d/c battery?

Hi, I'm gonna be heading out for 2 weeks on a trip, and I have 2 LED lights that come on when the truck is off. I don't want them to drain battery power for that long, so can I just disconnect the negative of the battery w/o any worry?

Just pull the fuse?

You can do that and then just reset all of your radio stations when you hook it back up again. This also resets the PCM.

Or... you can find out which fuse the two LED lights are on and just pull that fuse out. That way you won't even need any tools!

I agree with the previous poster. You realy should just disconect the LED's from the power source. I also doubt that two little LED's would drain the battery in two weeks. LED's are very efficient and draw very little current. I have to ask why you have light emitting diods that come on when you shut your truck off????

Thanks guys, I think I'm just gonna keep them on since they don't draw much power. I have scanner LED's mounted on the windshield pillars, they're for theft deturrant... and the girls think they're really cool. ;) They look great at night.

I doubt that the flashing diodes would deter a seasoned thief!!! I have never seen a good thief that was detered by a car alarm let alone flashing led's.Yes I have known quite a few thiefs! I worked in car audio industry in high school so you always seemed to draw certain undesireable elements in this industry. In large cities you get alot of low rider gangs, drug dealers and thiefs as well as the average joe.
