Subject: Good Deal or Not? IP: Logged
Message: I've been looking at potentially buying a new '02 Club Cab, but I may have found a used '01 I'd be interested in instead. It's a 20k mile Club Cab SLT with the 4.7 V8 and an auto tranny. Even the color I want.
So what would be a good price for a truck like this? It's got PW, PDL, Cruise, Bucket Seats, Bed Liner and the Tire and Handling Package--and the other usual SLT stuff I suppose (though no fog lights). The dealer says $15,500 and "claims" they're offering me a great deal (don't they all). Kelley Blue Book lists the "High Retail" amount at about $19,000... but what's realistic?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Message: NADA give an average Retail of about $18,000 for an SLT optioned as this one is. So I guess that $15,500 is pretty reasonable then????

Message: If you have a friend that works at a bank ask them for the "black book" price.
Dealers will show you the blue book price but they really use the "black book" when buying used vehicles.
Or, try to get the truck at below blue book.
