Hey I was looking through the TSB's on my new truck and noticed that the rear window is leaking as described in Dodge TSB 01007. I assume a few people on this board have had this problem....my appoinment at the dealer is in 4 days I am curious what did they do to fix it for you guys? I dont want a bunch of silicone sticking out everywhere.

The only correct way to fix a window is to completely remove and reinstall.

When I had to fix my leaky back window I went to the dealership, I thought they would take out the window fix the seal and reinstall. When I went back to pick-up my dak I saw what they did I almost hit the floor. They siliconed just where it was leaky, plus they rubbed it all over the paint and back window. I blasted everyone for it, and never ever went back to that dealership. Then a went home spent 1.5hr cleaning off silicone and another 1hr sealing up the rest of the window that they didn't even bother doing.

Make sure that the dealership is going to take out the window to service it, and not do a hack job with silicone.

I had a leaky back window as well. I never
looked at it in detail, but the dealership worked
on mine, and now it seems to be leaking again.
Also, I have water leaking in from somewhere and
eventually getting onto the passenger side floor
board. I read that '93-95 Dakotas had leaky roof
seams that will cause water to migrate from the
roof, behind the dash and onto the floor. Do
you have any experience with this problem?

Doug, that is your a/c drain hose that is leaking on your floor. open your hood and unclog the drain and your floor board will not be wet anymore. If your still under warrenty, have the dealer do it.

Thanks, I already checked the rubber hose that
comes out of my firewall and it doesn't seem to
be clogged. This only happens when it rains.
I will have to remove the seats anyway as the
carpet needs to be removed. I'll check it then
to see if I can observe where the water is entering
from. There is no warranty as it's a '93.

Had the wet carpet bit, thought it was the ac, took it to the dealer turned out to be the rear window, the dealer subbed it out to a glass company, they removed the window and resealed, replaced the carpet and padding, scrached the hell out of the tint on the rear window to where it cost them 60.00 to replace tint, got the head liner full of sealer to where they had to replace the headliner, lost the child tether seat hold downs, they ordered 3, turned out they come in a pack of 3 so they received 9, installed 3 and gave me the other 6,
Oh yea, they also fixed the leak.

Doug I have a 98 that wet the right side floor. Dealer couldn't a leak, so I tried myself. What I found was a body seam in the right corner under the front cowl beside the fresh air intake. I filled the seam with epoxy and coated it with undercoating. Hasn't leaked again. You might try pulling the black cowl plactic off from under the hood and look into the right corner for a seam.

Thanks,
I took the carpet, seats and panels out today
to take a better look at things. I did notice
more water on the floor, but I also noticed that
there is water on the bottom of the evaporator/
heater core casing. It's oily like the antifreeze,
so I probably have a heater core leak, however,
the water on the floor is not oily. I believe
that the hot water from the leaky heater core is
causing the evaporator to sweat more and is thus,
causing the water buildup on the floor. I'll have
to fix the heater core problem first to see if
that will solve the other problems.

I just wanted to post this so that others would
know what I did to fix all the leak problems in
my '93 Dodge Dakota. I mentioned previously that there was a leak in the front passenger side. Although I did have to replace the heater core and it was definitely leaking, the water on the floor was not from that. When I removed the box that houses the evaporator and heater core, and placed a running hose on top of the truck, I found that water was running in through the outside air inlet duct. There are two holes above the duct ( outside front of veh. ) where the plastic piece on the front "cowl" I believe it's called, snaps in. The holes in which that piece snaps in cause water to stream in through the outside air inlet duct. Although there were couple of cheesy rubber washers on the snaps, they were worn and no longer stemmed the flow of water into the duct. In order to be certain this would be remedied, I cut the snaps off
and plugged the holes with silicone. There are more than enough snaps elsewhere to hold that plastic piece in, therefore, the loss of the two snaps is Inconsequential. If you're having water problems on the front passenger floor, you may want
to perform this fix. Also, I had water coming in through the back window. I had found that the idiots at the windshield place put urethane inside the rubber window gasket. If you look at these gaskets closely, you'll find that there are water channels in them and that the water flows from the top of the truck to the bottom through those channels. If they're plugged, the only place for the water to go is inside the truck. You'll also see that there are body seams leading into the top of that seal on top of the truck. You can place a little bit of urethane at the end of that seal where it leads into the gasket, however leave a little bit so as not to completely cutoff, only to impede the flow, of water into the gasket. If too much water flows into the gasket, it will overflow into the truck. I know this sounds wordy, but I went through a lot of grief finding all this out and perhaps someone else may be able to benefit from it.

I also forgot to mention that the heater core leak
was detected by checking the water flowing form
the A/C water outlet at the firewall. If you notice
anti-freeze coming out, then your heater core is
leaking. You'll also notice the water level in
the radiator going down. If you can't find any
leaky hoses under the hood, it's probably the
heater core.

I took my 2003 Stampede back to the dealer 2 months after I got it because the back window was leaking. I dropped it off on Monday and was told that it would be about 5 days before it was fixed and they would call me... Well, I got a call that they were having problems finding the leak and it would most likely be the middle of the following week. Meanwhile they had put me is the biggest POS Saturn they could find.
After 2 weeks I got tired of waiting so I made an unannounced visit to see what was up. The only thing left in the cab of my truck was the dash and steering wheel. They had put a box in front of the wheel that they sat on to drive it. I was told it had made 3 trips to the glass shop and when I got there one of the service guys was working on it. They finally said they fixed it, took em 31 days, and that it had not been the window but a body seam near the window. I found out the last time it rained that the window is now leaking a lot more water than that body seam ever thought of. I gave up, decided that I don’t like my truck smelling like a swamp and am in the process of using the lemon law to get rid of it and get a new one (took it in on Tuesday for a final inspection).
